Actuarial co-op student supporting pricing and valuation modeling, assumption validation, market and trend analysis, reporting, capital measurement, and special quote analysis. The role uses AXIS, R, SQL, Excel, and other tools to develop actuarial models, streamline processes, analyze results, and communicate findings to management and stakeholders. Candidates gain exposure to insurance sales, pricing, valuation, risk, capital, investment strategy, and liability cash flow management.

Supports Global Special Investigations and Forensic Accounting teams with financial crime investigations. Gathers, reviews, and analyzes documents, account activity, and other data to identify losses and intelligence while mitigating financial, regulatory, reputational, and legal risks. Manages assigned cases, provides updates to senior management, and helps improve investigation processes and tools.

Supports enterprise risk identification and assessment through research, analysis, and monitoring of global economic, geopolitical, societal, and technological trends. Assists with risk presentations, white papers, quarterly and annual reporting for senior management and the Board, and updates to the enterprise Risk Repository. Collaborates with Group Risk Management, business segments, Economics, Treasury, and Strategy teams while developing foundational risk management knowledge.

Design, build, and deploy AI and machine learning solutions, including large language models, for balance sheet and liquidity risk management. Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, software engineers, and business stakeholders to develop scalable solutions using modern tools and infrastructure. Contribute to transformational projects, explore improved technologies and processes, and participate actively in the RBC development community.

Supports enterprise control assessment activities, evaluating control design and operating effectiveness against internal policies and standards. Assists with regulatory commitments, risk management programs, process improvement projects, management discussions, and maintenance of risk assessment and control-testing tools. The intern partners with business stakeholders, supports engagement, and contributes to improving program efficiency and maturity.

Use Excel, SQL, Python, and visualization tools across the data lifecycle while developing knowledge of commercial lending, financial statements, macroeconomic trends, and generative AI applications.

Supports Operational Risk AI initiatives by identifying and documenting AI use cases, gathering requirements, and partnering with AI and technology teams throughout the development lifecycle. The intern will experiment with large language models, apply prompt engineering, create Python scripts, support AI adoption as a change champion, and communicate with risk subject matter experts. This is a four-month Winter 2027 student placement based in Ontario, with flexible virtual, hybrid, or in-office arrangements.
