Job Description
The Vice President, Application Engineering, is responsible for the technical design, build, integration, and operation of application platforms supporting the Brookfield Wealth Solutions and Brookfield Credit business areas. This role leads a global engineering team to deliver scalable, reliable, and secure technology solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture and engineering standards.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Delivery
Lead and mentor a global team of Application Engineers responsible for designing, and building integrations between SaaS applications
Own technical solution architecture for application integrations, ensuring scalability, performance, and resilience
Deliver engineering initiatives within established timelines, quality standards, and SDLC processes
Integration & Platform Engineering
Design and implement application integration solutions (event-based architectures)
Ensure consistent use of data engineering frameworks and integration patterns
Lead cloud migration and modernization initiatives, ensuring optimized performance and scalability
Operations & Reliability
Own L3 after hours production support for application and integration platforms
Ensure robust monitoring, alerting, logging, and observability
Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and permanent resolution of system issues
Governance, Risk & Standards
Ensure adherence to IT General Controls, security, and data governance standards
Partner with Architecture and Cyber teams to align with enterprise standards and tooling
Manage technical vendor performance: SLA adherence and integration quality
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Business Systems Analysis team to implement approved requirements into technical solutions
Provide technical feasibility input and solution options during planning and design phases
Communicate technical concepts clearly to senior stakeholders
Key Deliverables
Scalable, secure, and high-performing application integrations
Solution architecture artifacts (diagrams, interface inventories)
Reliable production systems meeting SLA/SLI targets
Timely resolution of incidents and vulnerabilities
Successful & timely delivery of engineering initiatives
RCA (Root Cause Analysis) system improvements within agreed timelines
Security vulnerability remediation tasks completed within agreed timelines
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Data Analytics, Business Administration/Commerce, or a related field.
10+ years of hands-on experience in leading business systems analysts and product owners with specialization in the Asset Management or Insurance industry.
Strong leadership, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams.
Experience with Investment management & Insurance business domains, specifically in terms of application and data models across Public and Private asset classes
Skills & Qualifications
Experience with Investment Management applications such as Aladdin/ADC, Clearwater/LPX, WSO and Numerix (or other similar platforms).
Proven expertise in ETL/ELT, data integration concepts with exposure to REST API, SQL, XML, JSON, CSV.
Experience using ServiceNow (or similar platform) to create Service Requests, Incident Reports and action task queue.
Experience leading teams to manage cyber vulnerability remediation through Armis (or similar platform).
Practical experience applying modern data frameworks (e.g. Medallion Architecture) to ensure structured and efficient integrations
Strong analytical skills, including conceptual, requirements interpretation, solution creation and problem-solving abilities
Experience implementing CI/CD for applications in alignment with SDLC using tools like Azure DevOps
Experience working as a Product Manager for a set of applications
Knowledge of data governance frameworks and compliance requirements for data protection.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Actuarial applications: FinX, Moody’s Axis, Milliman MG Alfa, & AON Pathwise
Experience with Investment Management applications: SS&C PLM, Mercatus, TriOptima, Bloomberg AIM, & Duco
Experience with Snowflake, Databricks, SQL Server, ADO (Azure DevOps), Jira, Informatica & Qualytics
Experience delivering both in Waterfall and Agile methodologies
Experience leveraging AI tools for delivering business value.
