The Opportunity

Personal Insurance is undergoing significant transformation as we continue to modernize our business, accelerate AI adoption, and create the workforce of the future.

We are seeking a Vice President, Change, Enablement & Operational Effectiveness to lead the execution of Personal Insurance's strategic agenda. This leader will be responsible for driving business transformation, operational excellence, AI enablement, workforce evolution, and organizational effectiveness across the Personal Insurance business.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Personal Insurance, this role will play a critical leadership position in translating strategic priorities into measurable business outcomes while ensuring the successful delivery of change initiatives, modernization programs, and future-state capabilities.

What you'll do

In this role, you will be accountable for the following key areas:

Strategic Change Leadership

  • Lead the execution of the Personal Insurance strategy and transformation roadmap.

  • Drive business change initiatives across Personal Insurance, including strategic, medium-sized, and business-as-usual programs.

  • Deliver future-state capabilities enabled by modernization initiatives and emerging technologies.

  • Champion AI-enabled transformation opportunities that improve customer outcomes, employee effectiveness, and operational performance.

  • Partner with Data Science, Technology, HR, Transformation, Underwriting, Pricing, and Distribution teams to deliver enterprise-wide initiatives.

  • Chair the Personal Insurance Design Authority, ensuring consistency and alignment across change initiatives, operating model design, and workforce transformation efforts.

  • Identify investment opportunities, support business case development, and ensure realization of planned benefits across the change portfolio.

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and market developments to help shape future strategic direction.

Operational Excellence

  • Lead the operational effectiveness agenda across Personal Insurance.

  • Drive continuous improvement and simplification initiatives that enhance customer, employee, and business outcomes.

  • Deliver sustainable efficiency gains through process redesign, automation, and capability modernization.

  • Establish and oversee effective testing, implementation readiness, and business adoption practices.

  • Optimize third-party vendor and data investments to maximize value and business performance.

  • Lead operational improvement initiatives from concept through implementation while ensuring the successful embedding of new ways of working.

  • Support annual productivity and efficiency improvement objectives across the business.

Change Enablement & Delivery

  • Lead the Personal Insurance business change portfolio across underwriting, pricing, operations, and supporting functions.

  • Develop and implement effective cross-functional change management processes and governance structures.

  • Partner with Technology and Transformation teams to manage dependencies, risks, issues, and delivery priorities.

  • Ensure successful implementation and adoption of strategic initiatives with minimal disruption to operations.

  • Oversee customer remediation processes, production support activities, and business readiness planning.

  • Maintain a consolidated view of priorities and ensure alignment to strategic business objectives.

Workforce of the Future

  • Develop and deliver the Personal Insurance Workforce of the Future strategy in partnership with Human Resources.

  • Modernize organizational structures, capabilities, and ways of working to support future business needs.

  • Drive capability development and employee readiness for AI-enabled and digitally enabled environments.

  • Enable sustainable workforce transformation that balances customer outcomes, employee experience, and operational efficiency.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and risk management practices across all change initiatives.

  • Maintain effective controls, oversight, and reporting processes in support of regulatory and enterprise requirements

  • Ensure decision-making reflects appropriate risk management principles while balancing business objectives.

  • Support audit, compliance, and governance activities and ensure remediation actions are implemented effectively.

  • Consider customer impacts as part of all strategic and operational decisions.

People Leadership

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing leadership team.

  • Create an inclusive environment where employees are empowered to perform at their best.

  • Drive succession planning, talent development, and leadership capability across the organization.

  • Communicate vision, strategy, and priorities in a way that inspires engagement and accountability.

  • Role model Aviva's values and leadership expectations.

What you'll bring

  • University degree and relevant professional qualification, MBA, ACII, FIA, or equivalent experience.

  • Significant leadership experience driving large-scale transformation, modernization, and organizational change initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of Personal Insurance operations, including underwriting, pricing, distribution, product management, and customer service.

  • Demonstrated success leading operational excellence and continuous improvement programs

  • Experience delivering AI, automation, data-driven, and digital transformation initiatives.

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with the ability to balance strategic investments and operating performance.

  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams in complex environments.

  • Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and executive presentation skills.

  • Track record of developing high-performing teams and fostering inclusive leadership cultures.

  • Experience managing third-party vendors, strategic partnerships, and enterprise investments.
