Position: Strategic Portfolio and Business Continuity Specialist
Department: Business Process Optimization and Strategy
Location: 6300 Steeles Ave West, Woodbridge, ON
Total Potential Compensation: $75,000 - $95,000
Position Summary:
This role is responsible for leading the Business Continuity Programme (BCP) and supporting execution of the company’s strategy through strategic prioritization, initiative intake, and KPI tracking.
The Specialist plays a key role in ensuring that:
The organization is prepared for business disruptions
Strategic initiatives are clearly defined and aligned to priorities
Leadership has visibility into performance through consistent KPI reporting
This role works closely with business leaders and IT PMO to ensure initiatives are well-structured and ready for delivery, while project execution remains with delivery teams.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Business Continuity & Resilience
Maintain and continuously improve the enterprise Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
Lead and facilitate BCP tabletop exercises and simulations to validate readiness, test response capabilities, and identify gaps across teams
Lead the Business Impact Assessments (BIA) across business functions to identify critical processes, recovery requirements (RTO/RPO), and prioritization of recovery efforts
Ensure continuity requirements (e.g., BIA results, recovery expectations, backup protocols) are considered for new systems, applications, and business processes before implementation
Leading the BCP testing and readiness activities and follow up on improvement actions from exercises and reviews in collaborations with Director, Facilities.
Work with business and support teams to keep continuity information current and aligned across the organization
Strategic Prioritization & Initiative Intake
Facilitate the intake and prioritization of strategic and innovation initiatives
Ensure initiatives are clearly defined, aligned to strategy, and supported with required inputs (e.g., scope, expected benefits, dependencies)
Maintain a consolidated view of strategic priorities and initiative backlog
Support preparation of materials for leadership prioritization and planning discussions
Innovation & AI Initiatives
Serve as Project Manager for select innovation and AI initiatives, leading delivery from concept through execution
Define and manage: scope, objectives, timelines, and milestones; risks, issues, dependencies, and stakeholders
Work with business sponsors to define clear success metrics, expected value, and outcomes
Work with cross-functional teams (business and technology) to drive execution and maintain momentum
Track progress against plan and ensure timely delivery of key milestones
Identify, manage, and escalate risks or misalignment
Ensure initiatives remain aligned to strategic priorities and deliver intended business value
Strategic KPI Tracking & Reporting
Gather KPI updates with business owners and ensure timely data collection
Maintain KPI definitions, targets, and ownership to ensure consistency and clarity
Prepare concise performance summaries highlighting trends, results, and areas requiring attention
Prepare and collaborate with Communications team to provide strategic company updates
Prepare leadership and Board reporting on strategic performance
Present KPI results to Sr. Management Team
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business Administration, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent required
5–8 years of relevant experience in strategy, business operations, portfolio coordination, or project/program environments
Experience working across cross-functional teams (business and technology)
Experience or exposure to business continuity, resilience, or risk management, including BIA or testing activities
Experience supporting strategic initiatives, prioritization processes, or performance tracking
Strong organizational and coordination skills
Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex or cross-functional work
Strong communication skills with ability to prepare clear, concise updates for leadership
Analytical thinking and ability to interpret performance data
Certification or training in project management or business continuity is an asset
