The Work
The Senior Power Platform Engineer is primarily responsible for the administration, configuration, and maintenance of the Microsoft Power Platform Suite, encompassing Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents, Power Bi, Fabric. This role is integral to ensuring the seamless operation of the Power Platform environment. In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the company's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process, involving understanding all facts of Power Apps development and administration. This includes tasks such as gathering business requirements, developing solutions, creating test cases, managing application lifecycle, providing production and customer support. In addition, there will be a knowledge sharing aspect to the role as the company is in the early adoption phase of the Power Platform.
The Core Responsibilities!
- Administer and oversee the Microsoft Power Platform suite, which includes managing Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents, Power Bi, Fabric.
- Create, configure and maintain environments, environment security, on-premises data gateway and data loss prevention policies within the Power Platform.
- Manage user roles, permissions and licenses for Power Platform applications.
- Implement governance policies to ensure compliance with security standards.
- Monitor the performance and health of Power Platform environments and solutions. Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate problem resolution with Microsoft support if needed.
- Install, upgrade and configure and manage Power Platform Center of Excellence Toolkit and augment the COE Starter Kit with updated policies for environment creation, requirements for premium connectors, admin notifications etc.
- Set up and follow DevOps best practices for continuous integration and deployment of Power Platform solutions.
- Work closely with Citizen developers and Power users to guide on best practices and also to educate and empower them to leverage the Power Platform effectively.
- Develop custom applications using Power Apps, including canvas and model-driven apps and utilize Power Platform capabilities to create user-friendly and efficient solutions.
- Design and implement automated workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes and integrate Power Platform solutions with other applications and services.
- Create and maintain documentation for Power Platform solutions, including technical documentation, user guides, and training materials.
- Provide training to end-users on how to use and maintain Power Platform applications.
- Perform regular maintenance, updates, and upgrades to Service Fabric environments to enhance reliability and security.
- Monitor and optimize resource utilization and performance in Service Fabric environments.
- Manage and oversee Power BI environments, including workspace creation, access management, and usage monitoring.
- Implement and enforce data governance policies for Power BI to ensure data security and compliance.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, DevOps, and data analytics, to align infrastructure and BI solutions with business goals.
- Proactively seek opportunities to improve Service Fabric and Power BI processes, implementing automation and optimization where possible.
Let's Talk About You!
- Bachelors in computer science, Information Management, Software Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- 3-5 years of application development experience using the Power Platform.
- 2 years of experience working on Azure.
- Preferred Microsoft certificates: Power Platform App Maker, Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Developer Associate.
- Strong proficiency in administering and configuring the Microsoft Power Platform Suite and its licensing model, including Power Apps, Power Automate and Power Virtual Agents.
- Solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues within the Power Platform environment.
- Proficiency in Power Apps development, including both canvas and model-driven apps.
- Expertise in designing and implementing automated workflows using Power Automate.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for continuous integration and deployment.
- Good scripting abilities.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Experience working in a banking or financial services environment is desirable.
