The Opportunity 

This role sits within the Commercial Auto Price Modeling team, which focuses on delivering value through developing/modeling large-scale projects and monitoring existing production models. The goal is to maintain and strengthen profitable growth within our commercial auto lines of business. 

You will be part of a group that delivers solutions to pricing as well as other business leadership and underwriting teams. This requires an understanding of actuarial and data science knowledge, which requires one to collaborate closely with the pricing teams. 

This role provides an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge across multiple provinces and products, while applying a wide range of actuarial/data science techniques to solve complex problems and help achieve market-leading pricing. 

What you’ll do:
  • Develop and maintain pricing models, incorporating new technologies to improve efficiency and predictiveness.

  • Leverage the latest methodologies to ensure that our models are actuarially sound and align with data science best practices.

  • Support data science initiatives and provide recommendations to ensure our models maintain their effectiveness, while providing insight into their predictive power.

  • Monitor the effectiveness of data science models in production, prepare presentations to communicate insights on current and future portfolios 

  • Monitor performance metrics and proactively identify gaps and opportunities, recommending actions for improvement.

  • Promote risk mitigation and contribute to a risk-aware culture; maintain clear documentation of processes, decisions, and methodologies.

What you’ll bring:
  • 1+ years of P&C experience.

  • 2+ years’ experience coding in Python (numpy, pandas, sci-kit learn, GAM, XGBoost).

  • Experience working with, or a strong understanding of, pricing models 

  • Strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.

  • A commitment to staying current with industry developments and emerging trends, with a strong willingness to learn.

  • Resourcefulness and the ability to work independently.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly communicate and present ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Progress toward ACAS or FCAS designation.

What you’ll get:
  • The salary band for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000. Please note that individual salary is determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills and experience, as well as internal equity.
