Edelman Toronto is looking for a smart, curious, and talented communications professional to join our Technology team as a Senior Account Executive.

In this role, you’ll:
• Contribute to communications planning and help develop and execute earned media strategies
• Support product launches, media moments and client events from start to finish
• Build and maintain relationships with key Canadian media
• Translate complex product stories into clear, compelling narratives that resonate

Responsibilities:
• Demonstrate an understanding of today’s news and media landscape and the ability to think through how best to pitch a client’s story to shrinking newsrooms
• Understand key client information, including business strategy, industry issues, products and services, key customers and competitors
• Provide client service administration support; attend meetings, handle scheduling logistics, and draft agendas and recaps
• Research, compile and analyze the media landscape as it pertains to technology and business influencers and outlets
• Write, edit and proofread materials including press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets and client correspondence
• Participate in new business process including research, audits and proposal development
• Demonstrate general knowledge of social media tools
• Build lists and pitch media
• Commit to continuous learning through internal and external training opportunities

Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree or better in Communication or related discipline from an accredited college or university
• 1 to 2 years of related experience in earned media or communications experience working on enterprise technology, gaming, gadgets or consumer technology client files
• Excellent knowledge of the media landscape in Ontario and Canada
• An understanding of the role of communications and PR agencies
• Agency experience considered an advantage
• Media relations experience would be valuable, as well as an understanding of how to compile and showcase media results with proactive analysis of message pull-through, tone of coverage, etc.
• Solid grasp of all basic public relations tools, and how they affect the client
• Experience using media monitoring tools and conducting coverage analysis is a definite asset
• Fundamental understanding of media outreach assignments, with the ability to apply experience and initiative to develop appropriate media strategies
• Understanding of how to compile and showcase media results with proactive analysis of message pull-through, tone of coverage, etc.
• Excellent writing skills across various formats and media
• Proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is required
