Title and Summary
Director, Commercial Excellence
Reporting into VP, Advertiser Strategic Growth, the Director, Commercial Excellence owns the global standardization, governance, and scalability of commercial deal flow across Commerce Media, Advertiser. Partnering closely with internal Sales, Agency Partnerships, and Publisher Commercialization teams, this role is focused on defining optimal deal structures to meet and advance revenue. This role is responsible for designing and operating the end-to-end commercial framework to meet and exceed business goals across brands, agencies, and other third parties. This role brings strategic focus on ensuring deals are structured, approved, and consistent across key buying centers and markets.
Role & Responsibilities:
Design, own, and continuously improve the end-to-end global deal flow process including intake, approval, and execution
Drive scale globally through standardizing process and ensuring all advertiser deals move through a clear and controlled lifecycle from intake to approval to execution
Establish and govern global commercial standards ensuring consistent execution across brands and partner types
Standardize contracts and approval process ensuring appropriate governance and rigor
Defines workflow adherence, accounting for regional nuances and requirements
Drives process improvement and automation of commercial workflows
Drives operational transparency across deal models (e.g., coverage models, who we are speaking to, lead management, etc.) for more effective sales opportunities
Develops playbooks for deal workflows, builds framework to accelerate commercial operations
Identifies structural breakdown in commercial execution and influences improvements to advance deals faster
Influences product roadmap by identifying optimization opportunities
Partners with Strategic Growth lead to ensure new commercial models (or pricing strategies) and Agency Partnerships can be executed within existing or new operating frameworks while driving visibility across P&L health
Partners with Publisher Commercialization lead to ensure full visibility across publisher deal structures, and define optimal commercial model for advertiser deals
All About You:
Has experience in bringing structure to complexity and ensuring high commercial opportunities can be executed
Sits at the intersection of commercial strategy and large-scale execution and a strong desire to build scalable processes
Hyper focused on removing ambiguity from execution
Comfortable challenging status quo and pressure testing new frameworks and opportunities for optimal success
Highly collaborative and effective in cross-functional environments
Experience partnering with sales, product, partnerships, legal, and finance
Brings strong judgement and structured thinking rather than one-off fixes
Focused on building long-term and scalable frameworks to drive business success
Strong understanding of Salesforce, and the functionalities across CRM, pipeline, revenue transparency, and reporting
Strong at communication, presentations and training; comfortable adapting to the audience with high level summaries that are professional quality PowerPoint
Strong at deal modeling, P&L, and business health management

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
