As a Scrum Master your primary responsibility is to facilitate and support the successful implementation of Scrum practices within digital data practice. You are analytical, creative, and collaborative. You have keen attention to detail and take the time to understand our stakeholders’ data needs and challenges. You enable and empower the Scrum team to deliver high-quality products by fostering an Agile mindset and facilitating Agile practices. Main Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data governance teams, IT, legal, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with data governance activities and compliance requirements.

  • Data Governance Process Integration: Ensure that Scrum practices are integrated into data governance processes, enhancing data quality, integrity, and compliance across the organization.

  • Global Team Coordination: Coordinate with global teams to implement data governance frameworks, ensuring consistency and adherence to industry standards and regulations.

  • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to data governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.

  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Support the use of data analytics tools to inform decision-making processes within the data governance team.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different regions, ensuring they are informed about data governance initiatives and progress.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging experimentation with new processes and practices to enhance data governance outcomes.

  • Facilitate Scrum Ceremonies: Conduct Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews, and Sprint Retrospectives to ensure smooth team operations.

  • Scrum Principles and Values: Ensure the team understands and adheres to Scrum principles and values.

  • Agile and Scrum Coaching: Coach team members and the organization on Agile and Scrum practices.

  • Impediment Removal: Identify and remove impediments, taking accountability for early risk identification and mitigation.

  • Product Backlog Management: Collaborate with Product Owners to maintain a well-defined, prioritized product backlog.

  • Team Progress Monitoring: Track team progress using metrics like velocity, burndown charts, and team health.

  • Data-Driven Improvement: Use data to identify areas for improvement and track team performance.

  • Conflict Resolution: Address conflicts within the team or with external stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure stakeholders are informed about team progress and potential roadblocks.

  • Expectation Management: Help manage stakeholder expectations and feedback.

  • Scrum Best Practices: Stay updated with Scrum and Agile best practices and continuously improve Scrum Master skills.

  • Scrum Framework Adherence: Ensure the team follows Scrum framework rules and principles.

  • Retrospective Facilitation: Facilitate retrospectives to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans.

  • Process Experimentation: Encourage the team to experiment with new processes and practices.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with data governance teams, IT, legal, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with data governance activities and compliance requirements.

  • Data Governance Process Integration: Ensure Scrum practices are integrated into data governance processes, enhancing data quality, integrity, and compliance.

  • Global Team Coordination: Coordinate with global teams to implement data governance frameworks, ensuring consistency and adherence to industry standards

  • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to data governance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Budgeting & Vendor Contract Management: Lead the budget management discussions along with the PLO and proactively enter the budget in the budgeting tools, navigate the vendor contracts by working with the procurement team and by taking key inputs on the requirements from the DG capability leads (or POs)

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate effectively with stakeholders across different pillars (GBUs/GFs), ensuring they are informed about data governance initiatives and progress.

  • Continuous Improvement: Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team, encouraging experimentation with new processes and practices to enhance data governance outcomes.

 

 

About You

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications: 

  • Strong knowledge of Scrum principles and Agile methodologies.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar Agile role is typically required.

  • Scrum Master certification (e.g., Certified Scrum Master) is preferred.

  • Competent with Project Management Tools (JIRA, Confluence, ServiceNow)

Nice to haves: 

  • Experience working in life sciences/pharmaceutical industry is a plus

  • Experience in Data Governance programs as a Scrum Master 

  • Familiarity with Visualization Tools (PowerBI, Tableau a plus)
