As Reliability Analyst (Intern), you will support Northland’s program facilitators and facility subject matter experts in monitoring, reviewing, organizing and improving the existing NERC compliance program at Northland. Working closely with peers at over 12 facilities in 5 separate reliability regions, you will assist the reliability working group in analysis and improvement of the existing policies, controls, and produced evidence as it relates to electric reliability compliance as well as the drafting and review of policies and control documentation for the reliability program at Northland.
This position will be based in our Toronto Head Office. Additionally, this role will be 4 days in office per week, with one flexible day available for employees to work from home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and understanding of the regulatory requirements in each region where Northland operates applicable generation facilities and the enforcement timelines of those requirements
  • As directed by program facilitators, analyze new or revised reliability standards and their requirements as they apply to Northland facilities and report findings
  • Assist with analysis of self-certification and guided-audit process outcomes for best practices or lessons learned that can be used to implement improved program controls
  • Assist with the creation, review, and improvement of internal reliability compliance policies and controls at both the corporate and facility level
  • Implement standardized evidence repository structures for each facility
  • Maintain and organize the NERC evidence repositories that Northland stores on SharePoint
  • Assist with creating and providing training modules to Northland employees on various reliability-related topics
  • Assist the program facilitators with other reliability-related processes and tasks, as needed

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills (French proficiency is an asset)
  • Experience in any type of program/event coordination is an asset
  • Experience with or exposure to electrical theory and equipment
