The Opportunity - Product Manager

You are equal parts product visionary and growth strategist - steering the way to innovation that elevates our customers’ businesses and by extension, our business. You’ll use data to understand what creates customer growth and the most impactful ways we personalize the FreshBooks experience to help different customers get there. You are passionate about tackling big challenges head on, delivering simply amazing experiences, and ready to back it up with results. 

NOTE: This role can be worked remotely from the above location. 


What You'll Do as a Product Manager

  • Be a leader on a product workstream, an influencer in your product area, and an emerging voice in the product organization.
  • Clearly articulate the “why” for the initiatives you work on to stakeholders, and craft a 4-5 quarter roadmap that will lead to the desired outcomes.
  • Be responsible for defining measure for success for your workstream and initiatives, establish meaningful leading indicators for proactive measurement with data analysts, and derive appropriate course of action based on results.
  • Organize and manage an agile team of developers, designers, and product marketing managers to execute and deliver desired outcomes for our clients.
  • Contribute to greater product initiatives that span across product areas and drive business outcomes, including acting as an advisor of our domain.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, support, business development, etc.) to ensure understanding of desired outcomes and how it aligns with product vision/mission.
  • Be the product expert when it comes to your product domain area, with emphasis on workflows within your product area.
  • Advocate for our customers and the products, spend time with customers to develop a deep empathy for the challenges of small businesses.

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • 4+ years of impactful product management experience
  • Ability to collaborate with a team of developers and UX designers to build great products.
  • Exceptional communication skills including the ability to communicate complex concepts  in a simple and effective manner.
  • Strong data acumen and experience working closely with analysts to obtain data needed to support strategic decisions
  • Ability to think “big picture” and develop a compelling vision for your product workstream.
  • Empathy is your strong suit: you can spend time with external and internal customers to develop a deep understanding of the challenges of small businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn, adapt, and apply knowledge in a rapidly changing landscape.

You'll Stand Out If You Bring Experience In

  • Previous experience in accounting, payments, payroll, mobile, personalization, conversion, etc.
  • Working knowledge of accounting, reporting, tax, and/or payroll product, particularly for a SaaS platform
  • You’re not a project manager, but you’re not afraid to act like one — be willing to roll up your sleeves to help your team get things done
  • A history of bringing major features to market fast, and iterating based on customer feedback
