The Opportunity:

Enterprise Innovation turns ambiguous ideas into funded, validated products for Canadian financial services. As squad lead, you'll own the Lean Business Case from a fuzzy problem through to a clear opportunity size and ROI case. You'll use the PDLC methodology to take ideas from spark to scale, and prove them with working prototypes.

Grade: 17

This is a hybrid role with flexible onsite expectations, typically 1 to 2 days per week. New employees are expected to be onsite 2 to 3 times a week during their first three months to support onboarding and collaboration

About The Role:

  • Own the Lean Business Case end to end: frame the problem, size the opportunity, and build the ROI case with market sizing, unit economics, and a clear go or no go recommendation
  • Apply PDLC methodology across every stage, from ideation and validation to pilot and scale, and move, pivot, or stop ideas early
  • Prioritize the innovation pipeline with structured tools, score honestly at quarterly prioritization, and hold the bar, including on ideas people are attached to
  • Lead the squad day to day, including an architect and a designer
  • Prototype fast with vibe coding and AI tools to test ideas before committing spend
  • Run discovery with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to validate real demand
  • Present recommendations to senior leaders and drive decisions
  • Build strong relationships with the stakeholders

What You Need to Succeed:

What you bring:

  • 2 - 3 years related experience
  • Proven experience applying PDLC methodology in a real product environment
  • Strong financial and business case reasoning, with the judgement to know when the numbers are not good enough and the ability to defend a case in front of a CFO
  • Prioritization skills (RICE, weighted scoring, opportunity sizing, or similar)
  • Influence without authority: you earn trust first, then get people moving
  • The backbone to push back under pressure
  • Comfort with ambiguity and short cycles, and the ability to start without a fully scoped brief
  • Hands on AI prototyping: you have built something with tools like Claude, Cursor, Lovable, or v0
  • An entrepreneur or intrapreneur mindset
  • Fintech or payments experience, with Canadian exposure a strong plus
  • Executive level communication, written and verbal

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Nice to have

  • Startup or venture studio background
  • Experience navigating large enterprise governance and funding processes
  • Familiarity with Canadian payment rails and regulation
