Who You Will Work With: 
 

Join the Product Design team at Interac, responsible for designing and providing UX support for all digital products. We are a collaborative team where everyone stays connected to each other’s work. As a Product Design Intern, you will work closely with our design and research leads to help develop, evaluate, and refine the next generation of Interac products. Alongside design responsibilities, you will also support our UX Research team across key research activities. 
 
What You Will Do: 

  • Support Product Designers with daily design tasks, including prototyping, iteration refinement, and design critiques. 

  • Create prototypes for presentations, user testing, and broader product development needs. 

  • Take ownership of design work and confidently present to stakeholders across teams. 

  • Contribute to design initiatives for e-Transfer  

  • Review and refine designs to ensure compliance with accessibility standards. 

  • Execute design solutions in Figma, apply design thinking, contribute to design systems, and collaborate closely with crossfunctional partners 

 

What You Bring: 

  • Eligibility to work for Interac Corp. in Canada in a full-time capacity.  

  • Currently completing an undergraduate degree/certificate from a creditable Canadian institution with a focus on Interaction Design, Design, UX/UI, or similar field

  • A strong portfolio that you can confidently demonstrate what you’ve directly contributed to while also highlighting the wide-range of your talents and capabilities.

In your portfolio, we would like to see:  

  • Visual Design: High proficiency with Figma as you will create visually appealing, best-in-class, and engaging user interfaces and designs on an ongoing basis 

  • Experience with UX Research methods, including usability testing, user interviews, survey creation, A/B testing, heuristic evaluations, notetaking, and synthesizing findings to inform design decisions. 

  • Understanding and familiarity with tools like Figjam & Jira - You have experience taking business and stakeholder needs/requirements and translating them into of design executions in Figma  

  • Strong UI skills with the ability to create low to high fidelity to pixel-perfect designs based on best possible UX for various potential stakeholder – you have a clear passion for, and understand, current UX and UI design best practices    

  • A passion for both mobile and desktop experiences with responsive web design to mobile application and beyond  

  • Design Thinking: Ability to understand and empathize with user/stakeholder needs, ideate and prototype solutions, communicate the rationale behind your design decisions, and being open to iterating based on useful feedback    

  • Confidence in your ability to communicate verbally in a detailed and impactful way – you have some experience presenting design concepts and solutions  

  • Proven time management and organization skills. You are able to prioritize and manage your time effectively to meet deadlines  

  • Understanding that success is in the details – you tend to notice things that others don't  

  

Although not required, you have some familiarity or previous experience with the following:  

  • Understanding of accessibility guidelines and best practices 

  • Figma Make and other AI tools for designing 

  • Motion graphics and microanimations

  • Experience working directly with both internal and external developers, project managers, and product owners 

  • Experience with UX Research, User Testing and A/B Testing

  • Experience working in Agile teams is a plus 

 

What We’re Offering: 

The hourly pay range for this position is $23 to $25, and the internship term runs from September to December 2026. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job-related knowledge. An internship opportunity at Interac also features:
