Job Description

Reporting to the Vice President, Taxation, this newly created position will be part of Brookfield Asset Management’s Corporate tax group. This role will primarily involve operational tax matters in Brookfield Asset Management and will work closely with other members of the Tax teams in Brookfield’s business groups globally including infrastructure, renewable power, real estate, private equity and insurance. This role offers an excellent opportunity for career development and growth as a Tax professional in a highly dynamic and challenging work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of consolidated quarterly tax provision in accordance with US GAAP and coordinate with external financial statement auditors;
  • Canadian tax compliance (corporate, partnership, and other filings/elections) with assistance of external service providers;
  • Responding to Canada Revenue Agency’s audit queries and information requests;
  • Tax planning and support in the development and maintenance of global cash repatriation strategies;
  • Provide tax support for internal reorganizations and Corporate initiatives to optimize the tax position of Brookfield;
  • Manage and coordinate with business groups on international tax matters and documentation;
  • Provide tax support to internal functions such as Finance, HR, Treasury, and Legal.

Requirements:

In order to qualify, the following minimum requirements should be met:

  • CPA with at least 5 years of progressive corporate tax experience at a national public accounting firm or equivalent industry experience;
  • Experience with Canadian tax compliance and tax accounting;
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian tax rules including foreign affiliates; and
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe complex tax concepts in a clear and concise manner.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000

Our compensation structure is comprised of a base salary and a short-term incentive program (cash bonus). Cash compensation tends to vary based on geography to account for local market conditions and is set to be market competitive. Compensation decisions are based on a number of factors including relative experience, overall years of experience, industry experience, education and designations.
