Come join our Property and Casualty Insurance Defence In-house Legal team of over 200 employees across 5 offices, including Toronto, Mississauga, Aurora, Ottawa, and Calgary. As a legal assistant, you will support counsel in carrying a case load of litigation files, from beginning to end, involving the defence of auto claims, accident benefits, bodily injury, commercial lines, property, subrogation, and coverage work. More specifically, you will be required to:

Support counsel in carrying a case load of files, from beginning to end

Draft and revise pleadings, correspondence and any other legal documents

Carry out calendar management as well as general administrative duties

Receive, filter and conduct client calls

Assemble various court briefs as well as trial and arbitration documents

Complete electronic filing and word processing
-
Provide confidential administrative support to counsel

Deliver exceptional client experience and superior legal services

What you bring to the table

College diploma in a related field
-
A minimum of two years of relevant experience
-
Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

Experience with trials and/or arbitrations
-
General knowledge of court filing systems, Justice Services Online (JSO) E-filing, Sensitive Content Management (SCM), Caselines, etc.

Knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure, License Appeal Tribunal (LAT) and Insurance Defence Litigation with an emphasis in Accident Benefits and Bodily Injury work
