Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.
What is the opportunity?
RBC’s Global Functions Technology (GFT) is hiring a Lead Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to join its Data & AI team. The Lead Business Systems Analyst, Analytics and ML Products will be responsible in the delivery of the requirements in the implementation of predictive analytics and ML model products including data ETL pipelines, feature stores, and the deployment of offline and online models. Further, the Lead BSA will lead other BAs in the delivery of program objectives, aligning on requirements approaches and solutions delivery. You will work using big data and python technologies to help solve and provide engineering solutions for high compute / memory infrastructure use cases.
What will you do?
Requirements Analysis, Documentation, and Program Delivery

Lead the IT program delivery of business analysis activities, including the engaging and partnering with Risk Model Developer and Credit Strategy teams, in order to deploy data pipeline, predictive analytics and ML model applications

Generating requirements artefacts such as use cases, flow diagrams (such as process, data, sequence diagrams), data catalogs, rules, and non-functional requirements.

Support Project Managers, Product Owners and Scrum Masters in planning and executing projects – compose user stories and drive the delivery of software components. Lead and coach other BAs in requirements frameworks and project delivery.

Partner with the platform engineering teams to ensure technical capabilities and data requirements are well understood, identify dependencies and integration points and troubleshoot issues.
Data Engineering

Analyze incoming data sets and develop detailed requirements around sourcing solutions, identify provisioning requirements, data transformations etc.

Complete data profiling, create data models, and generate ETL/Feature documentation describing data sources, processes, and gaps.
Communication, Facilitation, and Planning

Lead and facilitate the user acceptance testing, implementation planning, post implementation validations and production incident analysis as needed while managing risks, assumptions, and constraints for requirements, and communicate to appropriate parties.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have:
-
Degree in Math, Finance, Science, or Engineering with 7+ years of experience working as a Senior Business Systems Analyst with progressively increasing responsibilities in the areas of requirements management on large/complex programs building analytics and data solutions.

Strong business domain understanding of Financial Services, excellent data analysis and solid background dealing with complex software products (Big data technologies/data analytics focused)

Strong data analysis expertise using SQL (and/or Python)

Strong experience in requirements planning and prioritization including stakeholder analysis, negotiation of scope, and effort estimation specific to building and designing data pipelines.

Experience in data modeling, entity-relationship diagramming, ETL processes, API schema definitions.
Nice to Have:

ML model development, Credit Risk Analytics, Climate/ESG, and/or Retail and Commercial Banking experience

Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA), Project Management Institute –Professional in Business Analysis (PMI – PBA) Certification, Masters Certificate in Business Analysis

Experience in working with Big Data technologies (such as Cloudera Data Platform) working directly with Hive databases on HDFS.

Proven experience with various project delivery methodologies such as Waterfall, Iterative and/or Agile
