Enbridge Gas Ontario is seeking a Gas Controller to join our outstanding Chatham Gas Control team!

This role is a key member of the Enbridge Gas Control Centre and holds the responsibility for the safe reliable operations of natural gas storage, transmission and distribution systems.

What You Will Do:

  • Monitor and control gas storage, transmission and distribution through a real time automated system (SCADA).

  • Manage and maintain system capacities and contractual obligations through system hydraulic evaluations and monitoring and controlling of gas supply/demand.

  • Respond to abnormal and emergency conditions including recognition, response, emergency process initiation/participation and reporting.

  • Build and maintain excellent customer service and working relationships with interconnecting pipeline control centres; other internal local control centres; field personnel; customers; and internal scheduling groups.

  • Forecast and adjust market supply requirements.

  • Perform periodic project work supporting the Control Centre as may be included in the shift schedule.

Who You Are

  • College diploma in a technical field, university degree or equivalent experience required (CET, Electronics or Instrumentation preferred);

  • AND a minimum of 1-year direct experience as a Control Room Operator OR a minimum of 2 years work experience in control rooms and/or operations, field operations or industrial controls (natural gas industry).

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and team skills are a must.

  • Ability to work independently, be decisive, and thrive under pressure.

  • Aptitide to be qualified as a Gas Controller through an in-house training program as set out within the Control Centre, Enbridge Gas.

Working Conditions:

  • Rotating shift schedule including weekends and nights with periodic overtime and standby responsibilities.

  • 12-hour shifts in a 7 x 24 operation scheduled with other Controllers in a Control Centre environment. Periodic project work supporting the Control Centre may be included in the shift schedule.

  • This is a Safety Critical Role with live system monitoring and controlling activities that can directly impact the safety of others. Responsible for making operational decisions related to pressure, flow and quality of gas received from or delivered to Enbridge Gas’ interconnecting pipelines, in-franchise customers and storage.

Salary:

  • Ranges from $62,000 – $100,000 CAD based upon candidate’s experience, skills, and internal equity.

  • Applicable compensation policies and guidelines apply to internal candidates.
