The Logistics Coordinator manages freight logistics, builds carrier relationships, negotiates rates, ensures timely delivery, and handles customs documentation.
Job Title: Coordinator- Logistics
Job Summary
The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that Linamar freight is carried by approved service providers that meet our service level requirements at the most competitive freight costs.
Responsibility
- Forge relationships with carriers and build the existing carrier base.
- Establish rate schedules and maintain and monitor compliance items.
- Quote new business and negotiate carrier rates to ensure profitability.
- Communicate with Customer Service about details of the loads that are assigned to outside carriers.
- Ensure that all freight is picked up and delivered on time and at the correct location.
- Ensure that all necessary customs documentation is in place.
- Monitor shipments and communicate with appropriate staff when problems arise or there are changes made to the conditions of the contract.
- Ensure that all load information, load changes or problems are inputted in the Fleet Manager system.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned to support logistics operations.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Completion of Secondary School Diploma.
Required Skills/Experience
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a 3PL role.
- Excellent computer skills including MS suite and working knowledge of dispatch software.
- Customer service oriented.
- Sound knowledge of inbound and outbound border crossing procedures.
- Strong geographical knowledge of North America.
- Knowledge of the handling and transportation of dangerous goods.
- Must be results oriented with ability to multitask and make decisions.
