The Role

We are seeking a Clean Energy Commercial Operations & Compliance Specialist to coordinate and fulfill some aspects of the commercial execution and regulatory lifecycle of our Landfill Gas (LFG) to Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) projects. This role sits at the intersection of commercial strategy, stakeholder communication, and regulatory compliance, serving as the central hub of coordination. You will translate complex environmental frameworks into clear, actionable workflows for our site operators, legal teams, and external partners. The ideal candidate will leverage knowledge and experience in environmental market dynamics and cross-functional communication to maximize the value of our environmental credit portfolio while maintaining rigorous compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance Coordination & Registry Management

  • Track timelines, reporting obligations, and submission deadlines for federal and state programs, including the EPA Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) and Clean Fuel Regulations (CFR).

  • Coordinate the monthly generation, tracking, and transaction logistics of Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) and biogas tokens within registries such as the EPA Moderated Transaction System (EMTS).

  • Manage the administrative workflows for quarterly Quality Assurance Plan (QAP) requirements, including tracking and processing external provider invoices.

  • Coordinate documentation, scheduling, and logistics for independent third-party engineering reviews and annual verification/attestation cycles.

  • Support portfolio expansion into new environmental markets by organizing applications and maintaining compliance registrations (e.g., CFR, 45Z tax credits, and international frameworks).

  • Monitor regulatory updates and EPA rule changes to proactively adjust internal tracking and reporting procedures.

Cross-Functional Communication & Risk Management

  • Translate complex technical, operational, and regulatory data into clear, actionable guidelines and risk assessments for internal legal, commercial, and sustainability teams.

  • Partner cross-functionally with landfill gas specialists, site operators, and engineering teams to ensure necessary compliance data flows smoothly without requiring manual technical modeling.

  • Act as the internal coordinator to align day-to-day field operations with rigid regulatory reporting deadlines.

 Commercial & Market Support

  • Assist commercial and executive leadership with market research, presentation development, and strategic communications regarding the sale and marketing of environmental credits and RINs.

  • Maintain internal tracking systems for credit portfolio deliverables, compliance documentation, and project milestones.

What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)

  • Post-secondary degree in Environmental Policy, or a related analytical field.

  • 2+ years of professional experience within the renewable energy, waste management, or LFG sectors, with a demonstrable understanding of RNG commercialization or project development.

  • Exposure to or a foundational familiarity with clean energy acronyms and programs, such as RFS, RINs, EMTS, QAP, and CFR frameworks.

  • Proven track record of managing multiple project timelines, tracking compliance documentation, and overseeing final deliverable submissions.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and technical writing capabilities, with a specific talent for synthesizing technical details into clear executive or operational summaries.
