Role Overview
The Business Analyst provides a comprehensive range of
I&IT business analysis services to support organizations with diverse
business and technology needs. This role works closely with business
stakeholders and subject matter experts to elicit, analyze, document, and
manage business requirements that enable effective I&IT solutions. The role
also contributes to the establishment and application of business analysis
standards, methodologies, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis & Delivery
- Lead
and conduct business analysis to assess business problems and
opportunities and document technical and functional requirements.
- Interact
with stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather, document, and
validate business needs.
- Apply
business process re-engineering concepts to support improved and
cost-effective service delivery.
- Conduct
business analysis activities across all phases of the project lifecycle,
from initial requirements through solution delivery and ongoing
refinement.
- Develop
business cases, strategies, cost-benefit analyses, and feasibility studies
for I&IT initiatives.
- Lead
and facilitate workshops, interviews, JAD sessions, and other
requirement-gathering activities.
- Develop
and maintain business models, use cases, process maps, data models,
business rules, and non-functional requirements.
- Create
traceability matrices and performance measures to evaluate business
analysis outcomes.
- Monitor
progress, resolve issues, and report regularly to management and
stakeholders.
- Support
production issues, configuration management, and change activities as
required.
- Participate
in request-for-proposal processes, focusing on requirements definition and
vendor evaluation.
Tools, Methods & Standards
- Use
CASE tools and other analysis techniques to document scope and
requirements.
- Apply
structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies as appropriate.
- Ensure
alignment with enterprise architecture, project management methodologies,
and system development standards.
- Maintain
awareness of emerging I&IT trends and technologies.
- Ensure
solutions comply with accessibility legislation and related standards.
Communication & Collaboration
- Prepare
clear documentation including reports, presentations, briefing notes, and
assessments.
- Present
ideas and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical
audiences.
- Provide
functional and technical leadership to project teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain
a high level of customer service and collaboration.
Qualifications
Must-Have Experience
- Leading
and conducting business analysis on medium-sized projects.
- Developing
business cases, options analysis, and feasibility studies.
- Creating
context diagrams, use cases, user stories, process maps, stakeholder maps,
and system diagrams.
- Developing
functional and non-functional requirements.
- Facilitating
in-depth workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions.
- Working
across the full software development lifecycle.
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge
of information management principles and practices.
- Experience
with business and data modeling techniques.
- Understanding
of accessibility legislation and standards.
- Experience
developing and tracking performance measures for business analysis
initiatives.
