Your mandate as an Application Engineer:

You will provide technical expertise, product support, and optimized transformer solutions to customers, sales teams, and internal stakeholders. You will act as a key link between engineering and commercial functions by interpreting customer specifications, developing transformer designs or configurations, preparing technical proposals, and supporting project execution from initial inquiry through to final delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer requirements, single-line diagrams, specifications, and standards (IEEE/IEC/CSA) to determine suitable transformer solutions.
  • Prepare accurate technical proposals, sizing calculations, and design recommendations for power, distribution, or specialty transformers.
  • Collaborate closely with design engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure feasibility and compliance with customer requirements.
  • Support the sales team with technical clarifications, product presentations, and bid strategy.
  • Perform loss evaluations, efficiency calculations, thermal assessments, and impedance or short-circuit performance checks.
  • Assist customers with product selection, configuration options, and system application guidance.
  • Review and interpret customer comments, deviations, or exceptions and provide formal responses.
  • Participate in customer meetings (virtual or on-site) to discuss technical details, design features, or application considerations.
  • Provide post-order support including documentation reviews, drawing approvals, and answering technical queries.
  • Stay current with industry standards, competitor products, and emerging transformer technologies.
Qualifications

We are looking for: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3–7 years of experience in transformer engineering.
  • Strong understanding of transformer design principles, including core design, winding configurations, insulation systems, thermal performance, short‑circuit capability, and loss optimization.
  • Strong understanding of transformer electrical characteristics, losses, thermal performance, and protection schemes.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, IEC, CSA or other applicable standards.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and interpret utility/industrial specifications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, and customer-facing skills.
  • Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

The annual salary for this position ranges from $80,000 to $100,000.
