POSITION SUMMARY:
The Weld Destruct Technician is responsible for reviewing and understanding OEM weld specifications, destructing parts for analysis, documenting findings, and reporting on the results. Additionally, this role involves collaborating with weld technicians and robotic programmers to identify and implement changes necessary to improve weld quality and consistency.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Grade 12 education and work experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- A working knowledge (written and verbal) of English and Mathematics
- Great computer skills using Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of SPC charting and interpreting
- Working knowledge of various measuring equipment (Verner, microscope)
- Must be physically capable of performing teardown duties (lifting to 50lbs)
- Must be proficient in the operation of all designated tools and equipment (air chisels, plasma cutter, wet saw and Grinder)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conducts visual audits and inspections as required
- Demonstrates a sense of urgency in achieving results
- Notify appropriate people of non-conformance situation, part fit-up and missing components
- Responsible for attaining all weld destruct samples
- To perform scheduled destructive and non-destruction weld, inspection in accordance with specified frequencies on all programs
- Record test results on provided control cards and/or inspection reports
- Maintain open communication and proper feedback information to the respective personnel such as Supervisor, Weld Technicians and Robotic programmers
- Maintain performance of all equipment assigned to the teardown area
- Report all unusual circumstances and actively participate in and support Continuous Improvements
- Follow all ISO Standard Operating Procedures to ensure world-class quality products are supplied to our customers
- Perform other duties as required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Office and shop floor environment
- Overtime hours will be required
- Possible travel required to customers sites
