About Big Viking Games

Big Viking Games is a profitable, self-funded live-service game studio based in Toronto. Since 2011, we’ve been building and operating virtual worlds with deep player-driven economies and long-term engagement at their core.

Our flagship titles, YoWorld and FishWorld, have served millions of players over their lifetime. These are not short-lived launches — they are enduring products with loyal communities, evolving content, and real in-game economies built on virtual goods and player-to-player interaction.

We operate with a small, high-leverage team, a bias toward action, and an increasing focus on AI-first workflows to scale output and efficiency.

The Role

We’re hiring Unity Content Artists (2D) to help power the next phase of our live products.

This is a high-output, hands-on production role focused on creating, preparing, and implementing game-ready assets directly into Unity. You will work across multiple areas of the product, including core content and live features such as Founders Pass.

This is not a pure illustration role. You will be expected to execute inside the engine, contribute to a fast-moving pipeline, and help us scale content production efficiently.

What You’ll Own

·         Asset Creation & Implementation

·         Create and prepare high-quality 2D assets using Photoshop

·         Implement and execute assets directly inside Unity

·         Adapt visuals from concepts into production-ready, in-game content

·         Content Execution

·         Work across multiple areas of the product, including live content systems

·         Collaborate with content design (theme planning) to bring assets into the game

·         Support ongoing content releases and feature updates

·         Production & Workflow

·         Manage tasks via Jira and deliver against estimated workloads (velocity-based system)

·         Contribute to a scalable, high-speed content pipeline

·         Balance speed and quality in a high-output environment

·         AI-Enabled Workflow

·         Use generative AI tools to improve speed, iteration, and output quality

·         Continuously look for ways to integrate AI into your day-to-day workflow

·         Operate with an openness to new tools, automation, and evolving pipelines

Requirements

Must-Have Skills & Experience

·         Solid experience working as a 2D Artist in Unity (implementation required)

·         Proficiency in Photoshop

·         Ability to take assets from concept to in-game execution

·         Experience working within structured production workflows (Jira or similar)

·         Intermediate-level 2D art skills across a variety of asset types

·         Strong communication and ability to work cross-functionally

What We’re Looking For

Core Traits

·         Self-starter with high initiative — you don’t wait to be told what to do

·         Comfortable working in a fast-moving, evolving environment

·         Able to operate independently and “figure things out” when needed

·         AI Mindset (Important)

·         Already using generative AI tools in your workflow

·         Curious, adaptable, and not resistant to new ways of working

·         Interested in leveraging AI to increase output and efficiency

·         Background That Tends to Work Well

·         Experience in small to mid-sized studios

·         Comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing beyond a narrow scope

·         Less reliant on large, siloed production environments

Nice to Have

·         Experience working on live-service games or high-output production environments

·         Basic animation experience

·         Experience working across different types of assets and content systems

What Success Looks Like

·         You ramp up quickly and begin contributing within your first few weeks

·         You are able to deliver assets independently inside Unity

·         You adapt across different content areas, including live features

·         You contribute to a high-volume production pipeline without sacrificing quality

·         You actively improve your workflow using AI and new tools
