The Underwriting Coordinator supports the day-to-day operational effectiveness of the Underwriting department. This role is responsible for workforce coordination, scheduling, resource allocation, operational reporting, and administrative support for a team of more than 90 underwriting professionals. The Underwriting Coordinator monitors staffing requirements, maintains workforce management systems, supports departmental planning activities, and provides timely operational information that enables leaders to effectively manage workload, productivity, and service delivery.


How you will create impact: 
  • Coordinate staffing, scheduling, and resource allocation activities to support operational effectiveness across the Underwriting department.
  • Monitor schedule adherence, workforce coverage, and operational demands while identifying and escalating potential staffing or service gaps.
  • Maintain workforce management and telephony systems, including employee profiles, skills, workgroups, and reporting requirements.
  • Generate, analyze, and distribute operational and productivity reports to support business decision-making.
  • Coordinate departmental meetings, events, vacation planning, and other administrative activities.
  • Collaborate with leaders, Workforce Management, Information Technology, and Telephony teams to support operational performance and resolve issues impacting service delivery.
  • Maintain confidential employee and operational information while ensuring information is shared only with authorized stakeholders
  • Support budget administration activities through expense review and reconciliation processes.

To join our team:  
  • Completion of post-secondary education.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an administrative or workforce coordination role.
  • Experience with scheduling and resource management in a service-oriented environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including creating and maintaining complex spreadsheets and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, solve problems independently, and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Knowledge of workforce management or call centre scheduling systems is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with GENESYS or similar telephony/workforce management platforms is considered an asset.

Salary information

Expected salary range $43,550 - $72,583

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Co-operators in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education. 

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
