Job Description
The Tunnel & Elevated Guideway Technical Manager is responsible for overseeing all technical aspects of tunnel and elevated guideway construction within a transit infrastructure project. This role ensures compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver the project on time and within budget.
Technical Leadership:
Provide expert guidance on tunnel and elevated guideway design, construction methods, and engineering solutions.
Review and approve technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and method statements.
Project Coordination:
Collaborate with design consultants, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
Monitor construction activities for compliance with technical specifications, schedule, and budget.
Construction Oversight:
Supervise implementation of tunneling techniques (e.g., TBM, NATM, SEM) and elevated guideway systems.
Ensure proper installation of structural components, track alignment, and integration with other transit systems.
Quality & Safety Assurance:
Enforce adherence to safety regulations, including tunnel safety orders and elevated structure standards.
Conduct inspections and audits to maintain quality control throughout construction phases.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate technical risks related to geotechnical conditions, structural integrity, and environmental factors.
Develop contingency plans for unforeseen technical challenges
Stakeholder Communication:
Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and recommendations to project leadership and clients.
Act as the primary technical liaison for tunnel and elevated guideway components.
Required Skills and Competencies
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline is preferred.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum 10–15 years in heavy civil construction, with significant experience in tunneling and elevated guideway projects is preferred.
Proven track record on large-scale transit projects.
Skills:
Expertise in tunneling methods (TBM, NATM, SEM) and elevated structure design is preferred.
Strong leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in project management tools and engineering software (AutoCAD, MS Project).
