Job Title: Manager, Training – Projects & Development

Department: Training and Development

Reports To: Amy Carlton, Director, Training & Onboarding

Job Summary: Candu Energy is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Manager, Training – Projects & Development to join our Training and Onboarding team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all employees are thoroughly prepared to work on our projects and effectively engage with our external clients. The Manager will lead a team of employees, guiding and supporting them to deliver effective training programs tailored to the needs of our clients and projects.

In addition, the Manager will oversee the creation and implementation of succession planning, leadership, and mentorship training programs to ensure the development of future leaders within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and Manage Team: Guide and support a team of training professionals to deliver high-quality training programs. Provides clear expectations and performance measures, meaningful feedback, recognizes and rewards achievements, and takes disciplinary steps when warranted. Provides day-to-day interpretation and application of the negotiated agreements with bargaining agents as they affect the rights, obligations, and working conditions of employees.
  • Develop Training Programs: Design and implement comprehensive training and onboarding programs tailored to the specific needs of Candu Energy projects and external clients.
  • Conduct Training Sessions: Lead engaging and informative training sessions, workshops, and seminars for new hires, existing employees, and external clients.
  • Ensure Qualifications: Ensure employees have the required qualifications to work on project sites, including necessary certifications and compliance with industry standards.
  • Oversee Succession Planning: Develop and implement succession planning programs to identify and prepare future leaders within the organization.
  • Implement Leadership and Mentorship Training: Create and manage leadership and mentorship training programs to foster employee development and growth to support project succession development.
  • Evaluate Training Effectiveness: Assess the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metrics, and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure training content remains relevant and effective.
  • Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with project managers, HR, and other departments to identify training needs and develop customized training solutions for both internal teams and external clients.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed training materials, including manuals, guides, and online resources.
  • Support: Provide ongoing support and mentorship to employees and clients post-training to ensure continuous improvement and knowledge retention.
  • Compliance: Ensure all training programs comply with industry regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience and Industry Knowledge: Recommended 5 years of experience in training and development, with a focus on onboarding and preparing employees for project work. Familiarity with the energy sector, particularly nuclear energy, is highly desirable. Experience with nuclear construction projects and interfacing with construction teams is also required.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong presentation skills, and the ability to liaise with clients and maintain superior stakeholder relations.
  • Training Skills: Proven experience in developing and delivering training programs, both in-person and virtually.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
  • Willingness to Travel: Willingness to travel to project locations as required.
