Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Compensation, the Compensation Analyst is a hands-on, analytical role at the heart of Extendicare's compensation team. You'll support market pricing, compensation analysis, job evaluations, and reporting that helps ensure our programs remain competitive, equitable, and compliant.

This role offers broad exposure to compensation projects, including pay harmonization, job architecture, and process improvements in Workday. You'll manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while building your technical and analytical expertise.

We're looking for someone early in their compensation or analytics career who is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and ready to grow. A strong foundation, analytical mindset, and willingness to learn are more important than having experience in every area.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct market pricing and competitive analysis, and support salary survey participation, to keep our programs current and equitable

  • Build and maintain internal pay distributions and rate grids that support clear, well-reasoned recommendations

  • Review internal equity and pay data, flagging gaps, anomalies, and areas that need a closer look

  • Support the annual compensation cycle — merit, bonus, and incentive programs — through data preparation, modelling, and administration

  • Help design and maintain job grades, pay ranges, and job evaluations across unionized and non-unionized groups

  • Produce clear reporting, dashboards, and summaries tailored to different audiences

  • Play a hands-on role in a multi-year pipeline of integration and transformation projects, with a steady stream of deliverables

  • Assist with harmonizing pay across acquired businesses, including plan and rate mapping, costing, and gap analysis

  • Prepare data and analysis to support compensation due diligence and workforce transition work

  • Use Workday and other tools to administer compensation processes and streamline reporting and analytics

  • Assist with cost models and scenario analyses used in union negotiations and planning

  • Partner with HR, Finance, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders to deliver responsive, service-oriented support

What we’re looking for:

  • 1-3 years of experience in compensation, total rewards, HR analytics, or a related analytical role

  • Strong Excel skills and a genuine comfort working with data and numbers

  • Familiarity with compensation fundamentals such as market pricing, job evaluation, and pay structures — a foundation to build on

  • Well organized, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced setting

  • Exposure to Workday, unionized environments, or multi-jurisdictional payroll are an asset

  • Interest in pursuing the CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) designation over time an asset

  • A collaborative, detail-oriented approach and clear communication style
