Temporary Supervisor – Risk & Controls (Insurance Internal Audit)Role Overview

RSM is seeking a Temporary Supervisor to support its Financial Services Risk Consulting (FSRC) – Global Banks Risk & Controls practice. This role is designed for an experienced audit and controls professional who can step in quickly to support execution of audit work and findings validation, while supervising day‑to‑day fieldwork across complex client engagements. The Supervisor will work closely with engagement leadership, audit teams, and client stakeholders to ensure high‑quality, timely delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support both execution of audit work and validation of findings, including review and challenge of testing results and issue conclusions.
  • Supervise and perform insurance internal audit testing, including understanding operational controls, supporting walkthrough documentation, executing testing of moderately complex controls, assessing results, concluding, and producing reliable workpapers.
  • Review work performed by associates and senior associates to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with audit objectives and RSM quality standards.
  • Assist with findings validation, including evidence review, fact‑checking, and supporting documentation for final reporting.
  • Participate in client meetings, walkthroughs, and discussions related to testing results and observations.
  • Maintain clear communication with engagement leaders regarding status, risks, and emerging issues.
Qualifications & Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in internal audit, risk and controls, or operational audit, preferably within Insurance or Financial Services.
  • Strong hands‑on experience executing Insurance internal audit engagements, including operational control testing and walkthroughs.
  • Ability to independently assess testing results, draw conclusions, and document work clearly.
  • Clear communicator who is comfortable building working relationships with audit teams and clients.
  • Prior Insurance industry exposure is preferred; broader Financial Services experience is acceptable

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $62 - $92 per hour
