Position Summary
As a Cybersecurity Technical Specialist within UHN Cybersecurity, you will play a key role in protecting the organization’s systems, infrastructure, and data from evolving cyber threats. Reporting to the Director, Digital Security, you will provide technical expertise and operational leadership in one or more core cybersecurity domains, such as Privileged Access Management, SIEM and security alerting, SOAR, vulnerability management, email security, or security automation.
The scope and responsibilities of this role require a professional with demonstrated technical and operational cybersecurity experience, rather than an entry-level candidate. Candidates are expected to bring strong hands-on experience in relevant cybersecurity functions and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence.
Duties
- Administer, configure, and continuously improve enterprise cybersecurity controls, including Privileged Access Management, SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, and email security technologies
- Define, enforce, and monitor security controls to reduce risk associated with privileged access, critical systems, and sensitive data
- Enhance security monitoring and detection capabilities by improving alert quality, tuning detection logic, and supporting incident investigation and response
- Design, implement, and refine security automation and response workflows to improve efficiency and operational effectiveness
- Support vulnerability management activities, including scanning, risk-based prioritization, remediation tracking, and program improvement
- Administer and optimize email security controls, and respond to phishing, malware, and other email-based threats
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and business teams to address security gaps and strengthen controls
- Contribute technical expertise to broader cybersecurity initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and emerging threat awareness
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive hands-on experience in cybersecurity or a closely related information security role.
- Demonstrated experience in designing, administering and improving enterprise security capabilities in a complex environment
- Demonstrated experience in Privileged Access Management, SIEM/security monitoring, SOAR, vulnerability management, email security, or security engineering
- Experience working with enterprise security technologies, processes, and incident response practices.
