THE ROLE

Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Technical Sales Representative, Municipal Pump Products is responsible for providing field technical sales support to customers of John Brooks Company within the Municipal Market in Ontario. The incumbent will be responsible for consultative field sales activities – generating and closing sales opportunities, generating and growing service for pump products within the municipal marketplace. They will also be expected to call on municipal focused consultants, municipalities and both waste treatment and water treatment plants. Our Technical Sales Representatives are responsible for overall customer satisfaction, while meeting or exceeding the territory sales and profitability targets.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for providing top quality field technical sales support to customers for pump products and pump systems
  • Seek out service and replacement equipment opportunities at the treatment plants and lift stations
  • Prospect and generate new equipment sales opportunities and leads
  • Establish and maintain professional business relations with new and existing customers
  • Service existing customers as well as new territory growth
  • Visit customers to review products & applications, evaluate and recommend custom pump solutions to suit individual customer needs
  • Conduct in-person or virtual training sessions and lunch and learns to consultants and end users
  • CRM management
  • Participate in joint calls with managements, suppliers, and other division representatives
  • Continuous learning/ supplier/ factory/ virtual


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential:

  • Minimum High school diploma/ GED
  • Minimum 3-6 years’ Municipal process pump sales experience
  • Experience working with municipal customers
  • Understanding of Municipal water / sewage treatment and collection processes would be an asset. 
  • Project management skills and experience with Tender sales process would be an asset 
  • A hunter mindset with a strong technical aptitude and a general understanding of municipal processes
  • Must demonstrate interpersonal savvy in order to build and maintain relationships
  • Excellent time management, communication and problem solving skills
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with CRM software & MS Office
  • Strong presentation skills and experience preparing professional PowerPoint decks
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated alignment with John Brooks values; customer first, ownership/accountability, respect, performance excellent, integrity and innovation

Desirable:

  • Post-secondary degree/ diploma in a technical field
  • 3-4 years’ experience with pump system review and calculations

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Fast-paced environment in a dynamic competitive industry
  • Home office location, when not travelling
  • Daily customer and inter-departmental/branch communication via telephone calls, faxes, emails and virtual meetings
  • Exposure to deadlines, multiple demands and priorities, multi-tasking, and interruptions
  • Day travel to customer & supplier sites – approx.. 50-60%
  • Long distance travel to and from customer and supllier sites, overnight travel as required - approx.. 15-20%
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
