The Role
This role will provide leadership and expertise in talent management to the full company and will lead the strategy and development of programs, products, and practices to promote the continuous performance and growth of our people and organizations. This role will report directly to Block's Performance & Growth lead, and will manage a team of skilled Learning & Organizational Development (L&OD) consultants to drive forward our continuous performance programs, products, and practices. In partnership with the Performance & Growth lead, this role will play a central role in building out a broader talent management strategy for the company. This role has the opportunity to have a significant impact on how we optimize Block's talent to deliver on our meaningful purpose of economic empowerment.
You Will

  • Collaborate with partners, stakeholders, and team members to build and deliver on approaches that advance the alignment of Block's talent with its business goals.
  • Provide talent management expertise in the areas of feedback, performance evaluation, talent and succession planning, and career development and mobility.
  • Lead Block's performance strategy, including the creation, delivery, measurement, and iteration of programs, products, and practices that build continuous performance behaviors into the fabric of the way we work.
  • Manage and grow the performance team, made up of L&OD consultants who serve as SMEs/DRIs/PMs on components of the performance strategy.
  • Inspire and drive engagement and alignment on Block's talent management strategy across the company through a clear purpose, vision, and connection to what matters to others.
  • Deeply understand the priorities and needs of stakeholders, partners, customers, and team members and integrate their perspectives into what we deliver and how we work.
  • Plan and align work so that contributors can confidently prioritize, make decisions, operate with relative autonomy, and move with speed.
  • Leverage data to inform the work, tell the story, and measure impact.


You Have

  • 10+ years of experience (ideally 5+ years in leadership) creating and managing talent management, performance, and/or organizational development programs, products, and practices
  • Experience designing and delivering talent management solutions in complex and ambiguous environments, through creativity and close collaboration with stakeholders and partners
  • Experience leading others towards a clear and compelling vision, and aligning objectives and work to impact metrics that advance it
  • A deep curiosity and empathy for customer needs
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a growth mindset
  • Superb communication skills, including the effective presentation of information to various audiences
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Tech industry experience beneficial

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
