We are currently seeking a Strategic Procurement Specialist for a 12‑month contract based in Oakville, Ontario. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse group of people‑centric professionals, thought leaders, and status‑quo challengers.

Job Summary

IPEX is seeking an eager supply chain professional looking for a challenging and rewarding career in Logistics. Reporting to the Category Manager, Transportation, this role focuses on evaluating the North American flatbed transportation network to identify efficiencies that drive cost savings and operational excellence.

The Sourcing Specialist, Flatbed Transportation will conduct deep critical analysis of large, varied datasets and regularly collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate agreements and support sourcing activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Flatbed RFP/RFQ processes, including contracting, implementation, and compliance
  • Research, evaluate, and implement process optimization initiatives
  • Administer new carrier vetting
  • Manage monthly spend and savings reporting
  • Reduce non‑core freight vendors through infraction identification and root‑cause analysis
  • Address new logistics requirements as they arise
  • Implement routing changes in collaboration with operational teams
  • Conduct carrier scorecarding
  • Support QBRs with qualitative and quantitative insights
  • Manage carrier performance (on‑time shipping, claims, AR) based on operational input
  • Drive Carrier Safety Program performance and compliance
  • Oversee claims monitoring
  • Ensure timely updates to systems (rate tariffs, accessorial schedules, certificates of insurance, operating authorities, etc.)
  • Address rate disputes and AP issues as needed
  • Support and lead carrier contract negotiations

Requirements

  • Completion of post‑secondary education in a related field
  • Working toward or completion of CITT, P.Log, or SCMP designation
  • Strong strategic thinking with strong negotiation aptitude
  • 3–5 years of experience in a supply chain or logistics environment
  • Experience presenting and selling ideas to senior management
  • Intermediate Excel and data analysis skills, including:
    • Pivot tables
    • Graphing and charting
    • Macros
  • Experience supporting multiple North American shipping locations (customer orders, replenishments, stock transfers, consignment shipping)
  • Supplier management experience (preferred)
  • Experience with SA (if this refers to SAP or another system, you may want to clarify)
