About the Finance team

The Finance team ensures Affirm remains financially sound and strategically positioned for growth. Our team manages financial planning, accounting, pricing, vendor management, tax, investor relations, and corporate development. We deliver timely insights, accurate reporting, and careful analysis to support decision-making. From day-to-day financial operations to major investments, we enable sustainable, informed growth by maintaining strong fiscal discipline.

About the team

We are seeking a highly analytical and strategic finance leader to join the Strategic Finance team, supporting our Horizontal business lines.

Strategic Finance plays a central role in shaping company strategy, enabling executive decision-making, and driving performance against key objectives. This role sits within the Revenue Finance group—a high-impact, lean team with broad cross-functional ownership. The role will own consolidated top line forecasting across users and the loan portfolio, and partner closely with Analytics, Credit, Capital, and Investor Relations to develop a cohesive narrative on portfolio performance. You will operate as a strategic thought partner to senior leadership, leading critical workstreams across planning, forecasting, and performance management. The role will proactively generate insights that cut through ambiguity, drive action, and inform innovation, while shaping high-impact decisions and identifying opportunities to scale the business efficiently and profitably.

What you'll do

  • Serve as the primary finance partner to Credit, Capital, Product, and Investor Relations, representing Revenue Finance in key forums and driving alignment on performance and priorities

  • Build and own assumption-driven User and portfolio loan mix models by partnering cross-functionally to validate inputs, pressure-test key drivers, and ensure outputs reflect current business dynamics

  • Monitor performance against forecast across portfolio, user, and segment levels; diagnose variances, identify root causes, and deliver forward-looking insights on user trends and the overall loan portfolio to inform adjustments and drive action

  • Own consolidated reporting across Top of Funnel, Conversion, Users, Volume, and Loan Mix; synthesize key drivers including mix, credit, pricing, and commercial impacts

  • Provide decision support on strategic initiatives, evaluating trade-offs and P&L implications to inform business and investment decisions

  • Translate complex analyses into clear, executive-ready narratives that drive insight, inform strategy, and align cross-functional stakeholders

What we look for

  • Proven ability to operate with ownership and influence in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • 8+ years of experience in analytical roles (e.g., strategic finance, investment banking, consulting, data science, or analytics), with demonstrated impact on business outcomes

  • Strong business judgment, with the ability to connect detailed analyses to broader strategic context and executive-level decisions

  • Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and influencing decisions across cross-functional teams

  • Expert in financial modeling; working knowledge of SQL and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Sigma or similar) preferred

  • Nice to Have

    • Familiarity with fintech, lending and payments business model

    • Experience leveraging AI-driven tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code) to enhance analytical workflows and insight generation
