Job Description:

We are looking for highly motivated junior Storage & Backup Administrators to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience managing enterprise-level storage and backup systems, learn cutting-edge technology and AWS cloud technology.

What will you do?

  • Assist in managing and maintaining storage systems such as SAN, NAS, and cloud-based storage and enterprise backup solutions.
  • Perform routine storage provisioning, data migration, and capacity planning tasks
  • Provide operational support for day-to-day activities including alerting, monitoring, trending. Diagnose and troubleshoot backup and storage hardware and software issues to ensure data integrity and system efficiency
  • Develop scripts for automated management (Shell, PowerShell, Python, etc), Work with senior admin on service delivery automation by using automation tools (like Ansible, Terraform, CDD etc).
  • Security and Compliance: Work with senior admin to ensure backup and storage system comply with organizational policies, industry standards and regulatory requirement. Remediate security vulnerabilities.  
  • Cloud storage management: Provision AWS FSx/EFS file share, manage filesystem capacity, performance etc.
  • Participate in regular disaster recovery testing and perform data recovery/restore testing
  • Document backup and storage configurations, procedures, and best practices
  • Participate in on-call rotation

What will you need to succeed?

  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years relevant work experience in related role
  • Recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of backup technologies (e.g., Dell Avamar/PPDM, Rubrik) and storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID, etc) and data protection strategies
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working on scripting (shell script, PowerShell, Python, etc) or automation tools (like Ansible, Terraform, etc)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the areas of storage and backup technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-driven, resourceful individual with an ability to work under little supervision

This role requires Reliability Status Clearance. In addition to a law enforcement inquiry and a credit check, as part of your application, the Government of Canada will ask if you lived or travelled outside of Canada for 6-consecutive months during the last 5 years, and you must account for all activities during this time. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
