Job Description

The Stainless Steel and Exotic Alloys Specialist will play a critical role in assessing, verifying, and ensuring the quality and classification of incoming and outgoing stainless steel and exotic alloys materials.

This individual will be responsible for evaluating material quality, grading stainless and exotic alloys, conducting tests to confirm grade accuracy, and supporting hands-on receiving and picking materials within the yard.

This role combines technical metals knowledge, quality assurance, and physical operational work.

What you're responsible for:

  • Performing visual and physical inspections of stainless steel and exotic alloys scrap to identify grade, alloy type, and composition.
  • Using tools such as spectrometers, XRF analyzers, magnets, or spark tests to verify material grades.
  • Accurately classifying materials according to internal and industry standards
  • Identifying contamination, off-grade materials, and inconsistencies in inbound and outbound scrap.
  • Participating in receiving processes by unloading, sorting, and organizing stainless steel and exotic alloy deliveries.
  • Collaborating with yard staff to maintain efficient material flow and conduct monthly inventory.
  • Recording inspection results and grade confirmations in internal systems.

Qualifications

To join our team:

  • You have experience in metals recycling, scrap yards, steel mills, or similar environments.
  • You have knowledge of stainless-steel and exotic alloy grades and identification techniques.
  • You have the ability to perform hands-on yard work including sorting and material handling.
  • You have experience using XRF analyzers or other grade verification tools.
  • You have high attention to detail and accuracy in classification.
  • You have the ability to work outdoors and perform physically demanding tasks.
  • You have basic computer or tablet literacy.
  • You have 2+ years of experience in stainless steel classification or metal quality control preferred.
  • You have forklift or equipment experience (or willingness to certify).

  • Hourly pay for this position is to start at CAD26 /hr, plus overtime after 44 hours
