DESCRIPTION:
As a Senior Manager of Cost Accounting at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll contribute to financial excellence and operational success across our manufacturing operations. Leading a team of financial analysts, you'll partner with operations leadership, ensuring financial transparency and accountability while optimizing costs and supporting continuous improvement. This position offers opportunities to create meaningful impact through financial leadership, process optimization, and cross-functional collaboration in support of our mission to enable customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
You'll oversee all aspects of cost accounting, including product costing, inventory management, variance analysis, and capital expenditures. Working closely with site leadership teams, you'll guide financial planning and analysis, facilitate monthly/quarterly business reviews, and implement strategic initiatives to enhance profitability. This role combines technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and business acumen to effectively manage financial operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 8 years of experience in cost accounting or finance, with proven leadership experience in manufacturing environments
• Preferred Fields of Study: Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related business field
• CPA or CMA preferred
• Strong expertise in cost accounting principles, GAAP, and financial analysis
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards) and financial applications (Excel, PowerBI, HFM/CMR)
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams
• Excellence in financial forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and root cause interpretation
• Strong analytical skills with ability to handle large datasets and deliver accurate reporting
• Effective communication and presentation abilities to engage stakeholders at all levels
• Experience in leading month-end close processes, standard costing, and inventory management
• Demonstrated success in identifying and implementing process improvements
• Strong business partnering skills with ability to work cross-functionally
• Self-directed with excellent organizational and time management capabilities
• Travel may be required
• Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry preferred

Compensation

The salary range estimated for this position based in North Carolina is $118,100.00–$177,200.00.
