Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager the Sr Demand Planner, Supply Chain is responsible for executing planning and procurement activities to ensure timely availability of materials and finished goods. This role balances inventory levels, production efficiency, and supplier performance to meet customer demand and operational goals. The position requires strong coordination across departments including Production, Engineering, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Sales.


Primary Duties


  • Execute material requirements planning (MRP) and manage purchase/work orders accordingly.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Expedite materials and resolve supply issues to avoid production delays.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters (e.g., safety stock, MOQ, lead times) in ERP systems.
  • Communicate production schedules and changes to internal teams.
  • Analyze demand forecasts and ensure accurate data is loaded into planning systems.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to support new product launches, phase-ins/phase-outs, and obsolescence planning.
  • Generate and report on shortage reports, supplier schedules, and KPIs (e.g., OTS, inventory levels).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma.
  • Works on problems of a moderate scope where analysis of situation or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and company procurement policies.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in planning, procurement, or supply chain roles in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • APICS certification or training preferred.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
  • Must have excellent communication skills to be able to pass the necessary information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have good leadership abilities.
  • Must always exhibit a high level of flexibility and an ability to multi-task.
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
  • Must possess good reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
  • Must have good time management ability to be able to meet orders and schedules.
  • Must be able to make use of different database programs, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
  • Maintains proactive and positive relationships with others in a team atmosphere.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment ‘PPE’ when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
