The Global Production Engineering Services (GPES) team has an immediate opening for the newly created position of Sr. Advanced Mechanical Engineer. The position is responsible for creating product design changes necessitated by materials obsolescence and providing product design expertise to sustain and grow Honeywell Aerospace products that are in production.

The position is at Honeywell Aerospace in Mississauga and includes daily collaboration with staff distributed globally at different product design centers and factories. The GPES team is focused on improving supply chain performance by maintaining and improving designs for products currently in the manufacturing phase. The products are primarily commercial and military aircraft electric power generation/distribution and environmental control systems/sensors.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple teams of other product design engineers, test design engineers and production staff to resolve materials obsolescence issues that threaten supplier and/or Honeywell Aerospace product discontinuation
  • Communicate directly with internal and external customers and suppliers about status on resolutions for supply chain delivery disruptions, no-fault-found situations, defect escapes, warranty review, and first-year-in-service failures
  • Provide product design expertise for input into field failure investigations and failure reporting, analysis, and corrective action system (FRACAS)
  • Provide material review board (MRB) engineering disposition authority for nonconforming parts
  • Engage in materials savings projects to reduce manufacturing and repair costs
  • Provide estimates and statements of work for various engineering efforts and projects
  • The Honeywell Aerospace facility is a controlled goods program environment. Candidates must be eligible for CGP clearance.
Qualifications

You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, electrical, or aerospace engineering
  • 8 years working in the aerospace or electronics industry

We Value

  • Knowledge of commercial and military aircraft electric power generation/distribution and environmental control systems/sensors
  • Knowledge of materials used in aerospace electrical applications such as polymers, composites, and metals
  • Familiarity with aerospace hardware qualification
  • Self-motivation and ability to work with little supervision while resolving complex situations and problems
  • Demonstrated experience in making timely decisions to address complex tasks while balancing analysis with decisiveness
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely to diverse engineering topics and audiences
  • Ability to estimate business impact of engineering solutions, and to provide sound recommendations to the business teams
  • Understanding of product and system configuration management
  • Ability to learn and comply with import and export regulations (EAR and ITAR)
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers

The annual base salary range for this position is $93,000 - $ 130,000 in Mississauga, Ontario. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
