The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will support the company’s financial reporting and accounting operations in a SaaS environment. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate revenue recognition, maintaining compliance with US GAAP (including ASC 606), and contributing to scalable accounting processes. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting knowledge and a solid understanding of Canadian tax regulations.
In This Role, You'll Get To:
- Manage and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review journal entries, various account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP, including revenue recognition under ASC 606, with a strong understanding of deferred revenue
- Partner with Sales, RevOps, and Customer Success teams to ensure accurate accounting
- Analyze financial results and variances, providing insights to management
- Support the Accounting Manager with internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation
- Assist with the implementation and enhancement of accounting systems (ERP and billing platforms)
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
- Prepare and review GST/HST and PST returns, ensuring timely and accurate filings
- Manage corporate income tax compliance in coordination with external advisors
- Collaborate with the Accounting Manager on international tax reporting and financial reporting to the parent company
- Act as backup to the Accounting Manager for accounts receivable and accounts payable approvals
- Support transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transactions, as applicable
- Ensure compliance with CRA regulations and other Canadian statutory requirements
- Assist with multi-jurisdictional sales tax compliance, including cross-border transactions
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager
We Are Looking for an Individual With:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation required
- 3–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with public accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, with ASC 606 revenue recognition
- Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Exposure to SOX compliance and segregation of duties
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Process improvement mindset with the ability to scale accounting operations
- Quick learner who can work independently and effectively in a team environment
- Reliable, adaptable, and able to meet tight deadlines (e.g., a maximum 4-day close)
