POSITION SUMMARY:
The Technical Leader Tooling is primarily responsible for organizing the activities of technical employees to ensure that repairs and engineering changes meet the quality standards outlined by the company and customer requirements. This role is also responsible for the effective communication of priorities and work assignments. Additionally, the Technical Leader supports production by troubleshooting issues during manufacturing and implementing quality improvements as needed to maintain part standards. The position is further accountable for building strong working relationships and fostering collaboration with the toolroom and all associated departments, with a dedicated focus on supporting team development.

Maintain safety standards of equipment and work area and perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with the safety policies of Karmax. "Supervisor" means a person who has charge of a workplace or authority over a work. "Competent person" means a person who,
Is qualified because of knowledge, training and experience to organize the work and its performance Is familiar with the Act and the regulations that apply to the work, and Has knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace
Duties of Supervisor:
27. (1) A Supervisor shall ensure that a worker:
(a) works in the manner and the protective devices, measures and procedures required by this Act and the regulations.
(b) Uses or wears the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be worn.
(2) Without limiting the duty imposed by subsection (1), a supervisor shall,
(a) Advise a worker of the existence of any potential or actual danger to the health or safety of the worker of which the supervisor is aware.
(b) Where so prescribed, provide a worker with written instruction as to the measures and procedures to be taken for the protection of the worker.
(c) Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of a worker.
Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with Section 28 of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
Definitions:
"Worker" means a person who performs work or supplies services for monetary compensation but does not include an inmate of a correctional institution or like institution or facility who participate inside the institution or facility in a work project or rehabilitation program.
Duties of Workers
28. (1) A worker shall,
(a) work in compliance with the provisions of this Act and the regulations;
(b) use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that the worker's employer requires to be used or worn;
(c) report to his or her employer or supervisor the absence of or defect in any equipment or protective device of which the worker is aware and which may endanger himself, herself or another worker; and
(d) report to his or her employer or supervisor any contravention of this Act or the regulations or the existence of any hazard of which he or she knows.
(2) No worker shall,
(a) remove or make ineffective any protective device required by the regulations or by his or her employer, without providing an adequate temporary protective device and when the need for removing or making ineffective the protective device has ceased, the protective device shall be replaced immediately;
(b) use or operate any equipment, machine, device or thing or work in a manner that may endanger himself, herself or any other worker; or
(c) engage in any prank, contest, feat of strength, unnecessary running or rough and boisterous conduct.
Follow Magna's Code of Conduct and Ethics and related compliance policies. Verifies conformance of machined or repaired tooling to specifications by checking dimensions, clearances and alignments Modifies dies to conform to engineering changes, tryouts of new dies, etc. Coordinate activities of apprentices, helpers and assigned contractors. Assist in the training of toolroom personnel in accordance with the Employee Charter and Karmax Employee Handbook. Respond to ANDON/escalations calls in a timely manner to address and diagnose issues. Coordinate containment of any suspect parts. Support Tool Room Management on a day-to-day basis and ensure workflow. Be fully conversant with SPC, Scan and Capability Reports Carry a company supplied communication device during scheduled shifts to ensure support for all production Provide administrative support to the manager in developing and managing all key departmental processes, including the Quality Management System (QMS), Department A3, budget tracking and control, training matrix updates, RASIC charts, Top 5 Focus priorities, PM Planner activities, Work Order parking lots, weekend support coordination, shift schedule planning, and the Attendance Planning Matrix. Assignment and follow up on specific action plans and goals, reporting results to the Tool Room Team Through communication, Team Leaders must recognize necessary production requirements and ensure workflow meets production schedules Ensure communication between shifts Must be a certified First Aid Attendant/CPR Perform all duties in an environmentally responsible manner in accordance with the Karmax Environmental Policy Statement-3 P's. Prevent Pollution, Preserve Natural Resources & Protect our Environment Perform other duties as required.

- Grade 12 Education or GED
- Certificate of Qualification Tool & Die Maker 430
- 5 years' working as a licensed Tool & Die Maker
- 2 years' experience of Supervising/overseeing a team
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical and organizational skills
- Able to perform various computer functions (Windows, Excel, Word, PPT, KWOS etc)
- Able to safely operate all Material Handling Equipment (Forklift, crane, buggy) in assigned area of responsibility.
- Able to set up appropriate tools in the department with use of cranes, forklift, and assist in determining and setting up spare part requirements
- Comfortable to set up a Draw Die in a Tandem Press for tryout
- Comfortable to navigate an Assembly Line HMI terminal
- Proficient in one or more of the following disciplines, including the very basics of CNC, EDM, CAD/CAM
- Able to plan, organize, perform and follow-up on all functions within the toolrooms
- Lead a team of Toolmakers to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner while maintaining quality standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to work in various locations within and outside the Manufacturing Plant
- Must be able to work Rotating Shifts & Weekend Overtime to meet Customer Requirements with a Minimum amount of Supervision
