building a more digitally connected future. We are seeking a highly strategic and innovative Solution Architect to join our Service, Operations & Support (SOS) organization within Engineering & Platforms.

The SOS organization serves as the face of technology for internal users across the bank, supporting critical capabilities including IT Service Management (ITSM), Service Desk operations, infrastructure and network operations, end-user technology services, and enterprise support platforms. As a Solution Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering technology solutions that enhance operational excellence, strengthen security, improve employee experiences, and accelerate innovation across BMO.

What You'll Do

As a Solution Architect, you will design and architect enterprise technology solutions that seamlessly integrate business processes, applications, data, infrastructure, and security. You will provide architectural leadership across strategic initiatives, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and aligned with business objectives and enterprise standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain architecture strategies, roadmaps, standards, and key architectural artifacts for the assigned portfolio.
• Lead solution architecture for complex enterprise initiatives across cloud, on-premises, SaaS, and hybrid environments.
• Create technical solution designs and recommendations aligned with enterprise architecture standards and best practices.
• Partner with business and technology stakeholders to align technology investments with organizational goals and strategic priorities.
• Identify technology risks, dependencies, and architectural challenges, driving proactive mitigation strategies and informed decision-making.
• Participate in requirements reviews to ensure business and system requirements can be translated into effective technical architectures.
• Research emerging technologies, perform proof-of-concepts, and evaluate innovative solutions that drive operational efficiency and business value.
• Provide architectural guidance and insights to support business cases, investment decisions, and technology modernization programs.
• Lead and influence cross-functional teams through complex transformation initiatives and enterprise-wide programs.
• Ensure architecture decisions align with security, compliance, governance, risk management, and regulatory requirements.
• Design scalable, sustainable, and resilient technology solutions that support long-term enterprise growth.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, technology executives, and project stakeholders.
• Drive integration across diverse technology ecosystems while maintaining alignment with enterprise architecture principles.
• Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating innovation and continuous improvement into architecture strategies.
• Apply expert problem-solving and critical thinking to resolve highly complex and ambiguous business and technology challenges.
• Take measured risks while protecting the bank through sound application of BMO's Risk Management Framework, policies, standards, and regulatory obligations.

Qualifications

Required

• 7+ years of progressive experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Infrastructure Architecture, or related technology leadership roles.
• Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven experience serving as a technical leader across multiple enterprise technology initiatives.
• Deep expertise in designing and implementing cloud, on-premises, SaaS, and hybrid technology solutions.
• Strong background in security architecture, infrastructure technologies, enterprise integration, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience developing technology roadmaps, architecture standards, and solution governance practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk management skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities, including presenting recommendations to senior leadership and executive audiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering AI-focused solutions and transformational initiatives.
• Knowledge of AI Agents, Model Context Protocol (MCP), Agent-to-Agent (A2A) architectures, and emerging AI frameworks.
• Experience with enterprise automation and intelligent service management platforms.
• Industry certifications in Cloud Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, Security, or IT Service Management.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
