About Salesforce

Salesforce is the #1 AI CRM, where humans with agents drive customer success together. Here, ambition meets action. Tech meets trust. And innovation isn’t a buzzword — it’s a way of life. The world of work as we know it is changing and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI, driving innovation, and keeping Salesforce's core values at the heart of it all.

Ready to level-up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You’re in the right place! Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.

Are you a database expert, or passionate about building database technologies that support ambitious growth and innovation?
We are looking for experienced Core Database Internals Engineers with a strong background in database internals and distributed systems to join a team responsible for architecting, developing, and testing the next generation of RDBMS. You will join a team of highly skilled, motivated software engineers and database experts, designing and developing robust, highly scalable software to support Salesforce's rapid growth.
You should have familiarity with database internals, distributed systems, or networking; an interest in systems programming; strong software engineering skills; and enthusiasm for working on complex, highly concurrent, highly scalable, and resilient systems. You should have a track record of end-to-end ownership — architecture, design, implementation, monitoring, testing, and product support — on large, mission-critical systems at petabyte scale.
Areas you may work on include logging/recovery, distributed lock management, replication, high availability, compression, cache management, encryption, scale-out, monitoring, and serviceability. This is a fast-paced, collaborative, agile, hybrid team that values end-to-end service ownership, from concept through architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and customer support.
Responsibilities
  • Lead a team to design and develop core database system functionality
  • Develop new architecture and designs to solve complex scalability problems
  • Generate ideas to improve robustness and performance
  • Build comprehensive functional and system tests for your area of responsibility and for overall database quality
  • Debug issues, conduct root cause analysis, and diagnose defects
  • Actively participate in the release and deployment process

Qualifications
  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of industry experience in systems or database internals programming
  • 3+ years of technical leadership in architecture and design of enterprise server platforms or systems
  • Deep expertise with distributed systems and consensus algorithms
  • Experience with highly concurrent multi-threaded/multi-process data structures and design
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with a results-oriented approach
  • Ability to learn quickly and deliver high-quality code in a fast-paced, dynamic, agile team environment
  • Strong Java or C programming skills

Desired Skills
  • PostgreSQL software development experience and community contribution is a plus
  • Experience building a high-performance, large-scale database platform
