Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

We are looking for a passionate Junior Developer to join our team! As a Junior Developer, you will work on exciting projects, collaborating with experienced professionals to enhance your skills, contribute to software development, and help ensure software through testing and automation.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to Manager, Software Development & Architecture

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

  • Develop software applications and systems under the guidance of senior developers.
  • Write clean, scalable, and efficient code, following best practices.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and implement new features and functionality.
  • Contribute to code testing, including writing and maintaining unit tests to ensure code reliability and performance.
  • Participate in and support test automation efforts by creating and maintaining automated test scripts.
  • Troubleshoot and debug software issues and work with the team to resolve defects.
  • Improve coding practices by learning and applying new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Help with code reviews, ensuring that coding standards are met, and that code is and well-tested.
  • Collaborate with the QA team to ensure testing coverage and fast feedback loops during development

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of programming languages, especially C and C++ (is considered an asset)
  • 1 yr. experience with additional programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
  • 1 yr. experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit or Pytest).
  • Familiarity with software development tools, version control systems (e.g., Git), and IDEs.
  • Interest in learning and contributing to test-driven development (TDD) practices.
  • Exposure to automated testing processes.
  • Familiarity with databases (SQL/NoSQL) and understanding of data structures and algorithms.
  • A portfolio showcasing college projects or personal development work, those that demonstrate testing skills.
