ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY

Black & McDonald’s Ottawa team is growing! If you are a dynamic individual searching for career advancement and the opportunity to lead a team in pursuit of a strategic vision, this position is for you. The Site Supervisor position is located in Ottawa, Ontario.

The Site Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and management for construction projects in accordance with company policies and procedures. The Site Supervisor shall foster an environment of cooperation and support to enable employees to perform to their maximum potential.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee construction site activities and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Monitor productivity and provide daily site reports to Project Managers.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, schedules, site records, and as-built drawings.
  • Assist with project scheduling and schedule updates.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and suppliers.
  • Conduct site safety orientations for employees, subcontractors, and visitors throughout the duration of the project.
  • Perform regular site safety inspections and address identified deficiencies.
  • Ensure all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, consultants, and subcontractors.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to identify, communicate, and resolve site-related issues.
  • Attend construction and project coordination meetings with owners, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Support project planning, execution, and closeout activities as required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and productive worksite.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 10 years of experience in the construction Industry, preferably in:
    • Civil / Structural
    • Plumbing & Electrical
    • College degree/trade qualification or equivalent field experience

    SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    • Effective communicator, both written and verbal
    • Ability to effectively lead others and maintain a positive work environment
    • Strong ability to problem solve and work efficiently within a fast paced and dynamic work environment
    • Contract management
    • Construction scheduling, planning, and execution
    • Organization and time management
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications.
    • Experience with project management software and tools (Procore)
    • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards
    • Familiarity with construction industry practices and standards
    • General Construction Knowledge
    • Valid driver license with a clean driver abstract.

    The expected salary range for this role is $90,000 per year. The starting salary will be determined based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education and experience. Base pay is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual discretionary bonus, career development programs, and other HR programs.
