As a Senior UX Designer at ActivTrak, you'll work closely with product management and engineering teams to shape the future of our workforce analytics platform. You'll be responsible for delivering intuitive design solutions that drive user retention and product expansion while working within technical constraints. This role is ideal for designers who are passionate about deepening their technical and strategic design expertise, with a career path focused on becoming a principal or staff designer.

What you will do:

  • Contribute to and maintain our design system, ensuring consistent and scalable design patterns
  • Make informed design trade-offs based on technical limitations, business requirements, and user needs, favoring quick iterations and continuous improvement over perfect solutions
  • Present and defend design decisions to product and engineering peers, incorporating feedback constructively
  • Maintain regular communication with customer-facing teams to gather insights and validate design solutions
  • Develop and test prototypes to validate design decisions before engineering implementation
  • Build strong working relationships across product and engineering teams to ensure effective collaboration

Requirements

Your experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into implementable design solutions, with portfolio examples showing measurable impact on business metrics
  • Proven experience collaborating with engineers and product managers to make informed design trade-offs based on technical constraints and business priorities; demonstrated ability to find creative compromises that satisfy both product vision and engineering feasibility
  • Strong bias for action with demonstrated ability to rapidly iterate on designs rather than pursuing perfection - comfortable with shipping improvements incrementally and learning from real user feedback
  • Advanced proficiency with modern design tools including Figma (for UI design and prototyping) and FigJam (for collaborative design thinking), with demonstrated ability to leverage emerging tools to enhance design workflows
  • Experience contributing to and maintaining component-based design systems, with working knowledge of React to effectively collaborate with engineering on component architecture and implementation feasibility
  • Strong foundation in UX research methodologies with experience participating in research activities and translating research insights into data-driven design decisions
  • Ability to work effectively with imperfect information and adapt designs based on technical feasibility
  • Openness to incorporating AI tools to enhance design workflows and efficiency
  • Experience with B2B or SaaS products preferred, particularly with complex workflows and data visualization
  • Strong communication skills with emphasis on articulating design decisions to product and engineering partners
