Location: Downtown Toronto (In-office / Hybrid model)
The Role
Key Responsibilities
Lead the end-to-end design and deployment of robust, scalable backend services and public-facing APIs in a cloud-native AWS environment.
Engineer fault-tolerant integration layers that reliably ingest, normalize, and process unpredictable data from a wide variety of third-party vendors.
Develop foundational platform components, including workflow orchestration, authentication, and system monitoring.
Interface directly with enterprise clients and partners to map out integration strategies, resolve complex technical roadblocks, and understand user needs.
Champion engineering standards and introduce modern, automated tooling to scale development velocity.
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
Scale & Architecture: Extensive experience designing, deploying, and maintaining distributed systems and APIs at a massive scale. You know how to build for resilience and anticipate system failures.
Technical Stack: Deep production expertise in TypeScript and Node.js.
Integration Expertise: A strong track record of taming messy, complex external APIs and turning them into reliable, clean data pipelines.
Customer-Facing Aptitude: You are not looking to hide in the backend. You enjoy being on implementation calls and acting as a technical authority for enterprise customers.
Autonomy: You thrive in ambiguous environments, can scope complex projects independently, and have the judgment to balance technical perfection with business velocity.
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with event-driven or serverless architectures in AWS.
Familiarity with modern asynchronous workflow orchestrators.
Exposure to JVM languages is a plus for cross-functional collaboration with data platform teams.
Benefits
Work Environment
Predominantly On-Site: The engineering team strongly believes in the velocity of in-person collaboration and operates out of a downtown Toronto office 4 days a week.
Comprehensive Benefits: Includes top-tier health/dental coverage, generous wellness and professional development stipends, modern hardware, and 4 weeks of paid time off.
