The Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Enterprise Service Engineering team and help us build exceptional engineering solutions.
Our team is responsible for public brand presence, business system engineering, and corporate tooling. We strive to engineer and deliver systems, platforms, and web experiences that empower our enterprise customers within Block to optimize their operations, enhance customer experiences, and elevate their brand outreach. As a Senior Software Engineer, your focus will be on developing innovative engineering solutions to drive Block's success across these areas. You will collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and fellow engineers to deliver solutions that excel in user experience, accessibility, and performance.
Your key responsibilities will include translating business requirements into technical designs and requirements for features and systems, as well as implementing and maintaining them.
You will
- Take ownership over the technical direction and long-term health of our team's applications/services and work on all parts of the stack.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and contribute to designing and delivering solutions to solve complex business problems.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Write concise, well-organized code and sensible tests following best practices.
- Actively participate in the code review process, exemplify and uphold software engineering standards within the team.
You Have
- 5+ years of software engineering experience developing scalable production software incorporating testing, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- Proficient in Ruby, Golang or Kotlin.
- Experience in Typescript and modern UI frameworks like React, Svelte, Angular etc.
- Experience working with MySQL, DynamoDB and Snowflake.
- Experience implementing and maintaining applications in an Amazon Web Services (AWS) ecosystem.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
