At Heartland, we're reimagining banking through simplicity, innovation and digital-first thinking. We're looking for an experienced Senior Regulatory Reporting Manager to join our Finance team on a 9-month contract, leading the delivery of regulatory reporting across Heartland Bank New Zealand.

This is a rare opportunity for a finance professional with deep banking regulatory expertise to step into a highly visible leadership role, working at the heart of capital management, regulatory compliance and financial governance.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Regulatory Reporting, you'll be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of all regulatory returns and compliance reporting for Heartland Bank Limited.

Leading the Regulatory Reporting team, you'll oversee the delivery of reporting to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand (RBNZ), ensuring returns are accurate, complete and compliant with evolving regulatory requirements. You'll also play a key role in the calculation and review of risk-weighted assets, regulatory capital, and prudential reporting across the New Zealand Banking Group and Banking Group lenses.

This role offers the opportunity to combine technical regulatory expertise, leadership and stakeholder engagement while contributing to the strength and resilience of Heartland's banking operations.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading the day-to-day management of the Regulatory Reporting team
  • Ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of all regulatory returns to the RBNZ
  • Overseeing risk-weighted asset and regulatory capital calculations across relevant reporting entities
  • Interpreting and applying regulatory requirements under the RBNZ Banking Prudential Framework
  • Reviewing reporting processes, controls and outputs to maintain compliance and data integrity
  • Partnering with Finance, Risk, Data and Business teams to support regulatory reporting outcomes
  • Translating complex regulatory requirements into practical insights and clear communication for stakeholders

What you'll bring

You'll be a seasoned regulatory reporting professional who thrives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. Comfortable navigating complexity, you'll bring strong analytical capability, exceptional attention to detail and the confidence to lead both people and outcomes.

We're looking for:

  • Significant banking regulatory reporting experience, including exposure to RBNZ requirements (APRA experience advantageous)
  • Strong knowledge of Basel capital adequacy frameworks and the standardised approach to risk-weighted assets
  • Proven experience preparing, reviewing and delivering regulatory returns
  • Deep understanding of banking data flows and the application of source data within regulatory calculations
  • Experience working across multiple functions within a regulated financial institution
  • Previous leadership or people management experience within Finance or Regulatory Reporting
  • The ability to balance manual processes with strong controls and accuracy
  • A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
