Own end-to-end testing strategy and implement automated Playwright test suites in TypeScript. Test web platforms and AI-driven conversational products, define quality metrics for non-deterministic outputs, integrate tests into CI/CD, run exploratory/manual testing, triage defects, and partner with engineering and product from design through release.

About Rentsync:
Rentsync is an award-winning, high-growth organization that provides high quality websites, marketing services, and software solutions to the rental and property management industry throughout Canada and the United States.

About the Role:

We're building the products that will define the next decade of rental housing technology, and we need a senior QA Engineer embedded in the team building them. You'll define what quality means for products that are genuinely new, build the systems to measure it, and own the testing approach end to end. You'll work across two very different surfaces: established web platforms with the functional and regression rigor you'd expect, and newer AI infused products whose behavior isn't fully predictable, where "correct" isn't a single expected output.

What you'll test:

  • Conversational and interactive products where the same input can produce different outputs from one run to the next, testing for quality, consistency, and safe failure rather than one "right" answer
  • Core web platforms across the rental housing / proptech landscape: functional, regression, cross-browser, and performance testing
  • The integrations and data flows that connect them

Tools you may work with:

Playwright · TypeScript / JavaScript · REST API testing · CI/CD pipelines · and the freedom to bring in whatever modern tooling scales your coverage

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Own the testing strategy and approach for the team's products, end to end
  • Design, build, and maintain automated test suites in Playwright and TypeScript
  • Define what "good" looks like for open-ended outputs, where there's no single expected result, and build the evaluation frameworks, scorecards, and regression harnesses that measure it objectively over time
  • Establish quality standards, test practices, and review habits the wider team adopts
  • Lean on a modern, fast-moving toolchain to multiply your coverage; you reach for automation and assistive tooling rather than testing everything by hand
  • Run exploratory and manual testing where human judgment matters most
  • Partner with engineers and product from design through release; shift quality upstream rather than catching problems at the end
  • Triage, reproduce, and clearly document defects, and track quality signals through to production
  • Integrate testing into CI/CD to give the team confidence to ship quickly

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong hands-on test automation with Playwright (or a comparable modern framework) in TypeScript / JavaScript
  • Comfort testing systems with variable or non-deterministic behavior; you're energized, not frustrated, by problems that don't have one correct answer
  • Experience defining quality for subjective or open-ended outputs: what makes a result complete, accurate, on-tone, and safe
  • Fluency with a modern testing toolchain, and a habit of adopting new tools quickly to scale what one person can cover
  • Senior-level communication: you can set a quality bar with engineers and explain a risk trade-off to a stakeholder in the same conversation
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills

Essential Qualifications

  • 5+ years in QA or quality engineering, including building and maintaining automated test suites
  • A track record of owning quality for a product or product area end to end, not just executing test plans

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Automated API testing experience
  • Experience integrating test suites into CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience testing conversational, chat, or natural-language interfaces
  • Exposure to building evaluation datasets, scorecards, or quality benchmarks for product outputs
  • Background in PropTech, marketplaces, or high-volume consumer platforms
