Overview

About the Role - 

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the vision and execution of a new and critical team on Instacart Platform. This role’s goal will be to accelerate innovation at Instacart and with its partners by creating a robust and agile self-serve integration layer. This role is unique in that it requires both a strong technical foundation for execution but also product strategy skills to partner with teams to find new and exciting ways to monetize our platform.

Our Platform team plays a pivotal role in driving innovation and scalability within Instacart's core ecommerce and grocery capabilities. By focusing on Instacart platform, the team accelerates value creation for multiple product and feature teams. We recognize the significance of building robust foundations that enable efficient scaling to new business lines and use cases. About the Job 

  • Drive Product Strategy for Monetization: Develop and execute product strategies to monetize SaaS solutions and foundational capabilities. This involves understanding market demands and translating them into scalable revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Manage High Demand Product Area: Thrive in a fast-paced environment by managing a high-demand product area with a large volume of incoming requests. Use strong execution skills to set proper expectations and shield the engineering team from chaos and thrash, ensuring focused and efficient development.
  • Deep Dive into API Documentation: Go deep into API documentation to understand, refine, and optimize Instacart's API layer. This requires technical prowess to ensure the platform's flexibility and scalability.
  • Build Strong Customer Partnerships: Utilize exceptional customer or client relationship skills to build strong and trusted partnerships. Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to identify opportunities, gather requirements, and drive product enhancements that meet market needs effectively.

This role requires someone who thrives in a constantly changing environment, can manage complexity at scale, and possesses a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking. Candidates should be prepared to take ownership, make an impact, and tackle exciting and challenging projects head-on.

About You

Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree 
    • 3-5 years of product management experience in a technology-driven environment.
    • Strong technical foundation with experience in building and maintaining APIs.
    • Proven track record of delivering innovative products and features that drive business impact.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and influence stakeholders.
    • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business objectives into product priorities.
    • Experience working in an agile development environment.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
    • Ecommerce Experience: Previous experience in the ecommerce industry, particularly in roles related to product management, software development, or business development. Familiarity with ecommerce platforms and market dynamics can be advantageous.
    • Experience in Building SaaS Products: Candidates with prior experience in building Software as a Service (SaaS) products will have a strong understanding of the subscription-based business model and the unique challenges associated with developing and monetizing SaaS solutions.
    • Technical Background: While not a requirement, candidates with an engineering background or strong technical aptitude will have a deeper understanding of the technical intricacies involved in building and managing large-scale software integration projects. This background can facilitate effective communication and collaboration with engineering teams.
    • Experience in Large-Scale Software Integration Projects: Candidates with experience in managing large-scale software integration projects, particularly in complex and dynamic environments, will bring valuable insights and expertise to the role. Familiarity with best practices in integration architecture, API design, and scalability is a plus.
